Anti depressants while on TB treatment
I think there are a lot of extreme emotions with TB and many people wonder how they are going to cope. We all manage our anxieties in different ways. Personally I did not take anything but wrote a daily diary instead. So I am unable to comment on taking antidepressants I’m afraid
I see thanks i might try to do that, i been anxious for months but having diagnose and started the treatment i feel more depressed, its not helping that i am stock in a place with my 2 young kids without any family and husband who are in different country though they have been so supportive online but still it’s different if you have them with you physically.
How are your children? Have they been tested for TB? You are amazing to be coping on your own without your family. Stay strong and do talk to your family often and if you need to take your antidepressants, even if it’s just to get through to the end of your treatment then that is fine. You must do what suits you.
Thank you, They had skin test and negative, I had the meds but didn’t take for days for a reason that i can handle my anxiety but it gets worse i was having panicked attack thinking worries and I started to feel fear around me, I’m not sure if the TB meds can make you anxious and i been having more pain in my joints, headaches and left and back side stomach pain.
Hello LadyIEC - I just read your alarming statement saying that you avoided your TB medication! I cannot state enough NEVER DO THIS.
These drugs will save your life, anxiety or not you must takes them as prescribed EVERY day. If you do not, then you will pass this on to your children and anyone else and put your own life at risk!
Oh sorry I didn’t stated clear, its my antidepressant that I haven’t taken but the TB meds yes I didn’t stop taking them. Did you experience few side effects during the treatment?
You are doing really well, carry on. I experienced some flushing on my face resembling sunburn from eating some cheese, but apart from that it was just a long slow recovery. Try to rest as much as you can. It won’t be easy with young children around so get any help you can and look forward to the future and consider how well you have done!
