NOW MY 8 YEAR OLD SON?
I have an almost 3 year old recently diagnosed with asthma. NOW my 8 year old son has been given a peak flow metre to use and record for two weeks. Over the last 3 months or so he has had 3 separate bouts of night coughing (and some day coughing on exertion or going outside in the cold). These bouts

Advice on being more prepared, peak flow? pulse oximeter?
Do you think it would be worth buying a Pulse Oximeter to use at home? Also I have only just heard of peak flow, at what age/stage should this be started? My 3 (3/3/5) boys tend to only suffer with asthma when they have a virus, but do also have the cough occasionally in-between, and can develop a

How to know what to react?
My daughter is now 12 and has had eczema all her life and asthma since she was 4. She is very fit and trains regularly for baton twirling and has an excellent peak flow most of the time. Her asthma is on the whole not a problem with her day to day life but this time of the year is a nightmare. She

Rather long post, sorry...My daughters asthma is out of control...
My 14 year old daughter got a cold, the 2nd week of January. We doubled her dose of the purple inhaler in the morning and the evening as we normally do when she has a cold. She started to be sick a couple of times in the night (just phlegm), which is quite normal for her when she has a cold. However

Peak flow readings
When we was in hospital Alex was measured to determine his target PFR. They said his should be around 250. His seems to have settled around the 200-210 mark over the last 4 days. He has been on his brown inhaler for almost 3 weeks. I have looked up on the internet that for a child his height his

Does anyone worry about the side effects of Omalizumab / Xolair
Hi everyone, my son has had Omalizumab now since june 14th 2007, he is only 10 years old and it is not licenced to children under the age of 12 years old. It has had a positive effect on my son and has definitely helped towards not having as many courses of Prednisolone.... No one can tell me what the

Horrible teacher aaarrgghhhh!!!!!!
My son went back to school today, not really brilliant as we can't seem to shift his cold. He has come home really poorly, had to have his salbutamol inhaler. His peak flow was 140. I asked him if he had been ill at school. He said he told his teacher he was not well (he's 6) and he said, she said "

Progress despite everything
My little boy, Alfie (6), has severe asthma. He had 20 emergency admissions before he was 2 which culminated in him being ventilated in picu at st georges hospital, london. Since then he's been on mega high inhaled steroids, (flixotide 850mcg daily), serevent, monteleukast, azithromycin all daily.

Symptom changes advice please
Hi I have got a couple of questions. My daughter who is 9 has had asthma since she was 18 mths and her main symptom has always been a cough. She has never wheezed (except when she also had a chest infection). Over time I have learnt to recognise when she gets bad as she always says she is fine (!) until

Tired and frustrated
My 13 yr old son has been ill for the past two weeks. First he picked up a virus which then gave him problems with his asthma. After over a week on antibiotics and steroids he now feels a lot better and is no longer having trouble breathing or wheezing but he is still constantly coughing until he is

Needing ventolin after doing peak flow
I really need to push for an appoinment with the asthma nurse at our practice so I don't have to keep plaguing you lovely people with my questions! While much improved at the end of the course of pred (and having taken her Seretide 50 down to 2 puff twice a day from the three twice a day previously)

unsure what to do
Hello everyone. I'd like to explain and ask for advice about me and my 9 year old son please. Me - Every 3 or 4 months I get coughing fits. No shortness of breath, they don't get any worse when I'm more active. Coughing usually continues and gets worse making me be sick ( clear gooey stuff ). Sometimes
