Set back
Had a bit of a set back last night. I have done nothing but cough and struggle to breath for 2 years. Got diagnoses of copd stage 2 with 54% lung function a couple of months ago. Gp put me on mucodyne 3 weeks ago and within days felt so much better it was unbliveable. Every one was noticing how well

Another viral exacerbation
Hi Everyone I'm suffering another viral exacerbation of asthma. I absolutely cannot manage if I get a cold. I got the symptoms of a cold last Thursday and by Friday I was seeing the GP as an emergency. Peak flow down to around 270-300 so he started me on Prednisolone. However, I think there was some

Sorry MIA- Home IV antibiotics and now steroid diabetes
Hi guys, I went back and read my post from just getting out of the hospital about three weeks ago. Thank you all for your support and nice posts! I'm about three weeks out of the hospital now, and it's been pretty crazy. I don't even know how much I've paid in doctor's co-pays and prescriptions. It's

Good/normal peak flow but feel short of breath?
My asthma is generally well controlled with Symbicort 200/6, which I take 2 doses in the morning, 1 at night. This past week or so I've had this recurring feeling of not fully being able to catch my breath, I think the correct term is 'breath satiety' I feel like I can't inhale the maximum I should

I rang the asthma advice line today
spoke to a lovely nurse, i rang because EVERY time i run i struggle with my breathing, even when i take my blue before i run i still struggle afterwards, and often during my run. I thought my asthma is generally well-controlled apart from this particular issue but she thinks maybe not. One thing she

Bronchiectasis -very confused
Can anyone help with this? I saw my consultant last week. I've been well for approx 12weeks now. My peak flow has gone up steadily from 280-400/450. Consultant said that bronchiectasis can disappear! That piece of info completely contradicts everything I've read on BLF site and what I've been told by

Housing Associations/landlords and asthma
Hi, I'm looking for advice. I have a housing association flat in London. The HA has known since I've moved in that I'm asthmatic and once before ignored this when I had a window that needed to be replaced as it was not closing and making it impossible to heat the flat properly, hence making my asthma

What does all the FEV and other no's mean?
Hi all, I have recently seen my COPD nurse and the results of the tests she did were : FEV 1 0.59 L. FEV1 FVC RATIO 50% FVC 1.17 L PEAK FLOW 125 I haven't a clue what this all means or if it implies what stage I'm at, and as I'm considering making a claim for attendance allowance would really appreciate

Inhaler bag/case
Can anyone recommend a good case or bag that would fit an inhaler, spacer and peak flow metre in please. My daughter is 10 and going on her first school residential soon and just want to make sure all her bits are kept safe and together :)

Permanently low peak flow, nothing helps!
I'm 62, and have had asthma since a baby. It thankfully does not affect my daily life, (unless I go up a hill and then I get a bit breathless) but my peak flow NEVER goes above 240, and hasn't for years. I've had a lot of hospital tests, and been put on various inhalers, but nothing makes any difference

Frequent respiratory infections, and pain in right hand side of chest (exacerbated by monthly periods) - anyone have similar? Any advice?
This is my first time asking a question - so it may be a little longwinded! I have Asthma, and Chronic Sinusitis (both of which I do not think are very well managed by my G.P.). My peak flow is usually around 320 - 380 at best (I am 43, female, non-smoker, petite). My Asthma Nurse seems to think this

post reliever peak flow
Yesterday I thought I'd try some exercise for the first time since I started with the last chest infection. Big mistake, unfortunately as my chest got very tight and I ended up using 10 puffs of ventolin. It did the trick and the tightness went but my peak flow still wasn't that high. Before exercise

Bronchiectasis and Haemophilus Influenzae
Hi everyone, I am 31 and was diagnosed with bronchiectasis in august 2012. It followed a 2 year period of having chest infections that wouldn't quite go away. At first they thought it was asthma but after trying inhalers and peak flow tests it showed that was not the case. I then had spirometery tests
