I also receive firmagon shots once month, along with
Xgeva
once a month. Experiencing bone pain, and a bit of neuropathy pain in feet. Had a radical prostatectomy two years ago, then cancer spread to seminal vesicles (T3B). Had radiation two different times, for a month each go.

Xgeva Vs Zometa
Hi Folks ;) We received a notice from our local oncologist that Elgie would now be receiving Zometa infusions instead of
Xgeva
due to the cost. They say it is the same quality at a lower cost. Does anyone have experience or does anyone know if this is true? Thanks so much :) Jackie

Question about IMRT on multiple targets simultaneously
I take
Xgeva
for the bone metastases and for the last 18 months they do not show up on bone scans nor do I have any bone pain. About a month ago, I had a PET scan specific for prostate cancer performed.

First post: Father with metastatic PCa, looking for natural treatment experiences after stoping oral chemo/radiation.
In February this year, his PSA had jumped from 3 (when he was residing in the hospital on Xtandi,
Xgeva
and Lupron injections) to 8. They stopped the Xtandi and prescribed him Zytiga (+ Prednisone) in it's place since the PSA kept rising.

Dad was told to stop Xtandi
I thought my dad would be taking the meds indefinately along with lupron and
xgeva
shots. I couldnt ask why we should stop the pills all she said were numbers were low. And come in and talk to the doctor in 2 weeks. Anyone know why he would stop the pills I thought they want the PSA at 0?

Checking in.
I have started to have a reaction to my
xgeva
injection and have decided with my oncologist to take it every other month instead of once a month. The letrozole is causing severe achy joints. That being said it's still been a rather great year thus far. Stage IV with mets over and out.

Thank you all.
I have been on the same therapy since my stage IV diagnosis (Faslodex,
Xgeva
and Arimidex). Currently, there is no progression of disease. I feel very fortunate to respond this well to this therapy. I find this disease to be very disheartening at times, and hope is my best friend.

BIRM update
It's only been two weeks since I started BIRM, but I have a PSA done every four weeks when I get my
Xgeva
shot, so from here it will be monthly. First, the PSA. On 4/13 it was 1.9, on 5/12 it was 2.3. This is after I had a .2 increase every 4 week period since it was about 1.

The good news is I love my Doctor AND so far the cancer is responding to the Letrozole, Ibrance and
Xgeva
shot. I am blessed with wonderful family and friends that keep the prayers going strong. Trying to complete all my former activities just a little slower and doing less in a day.

Julie new with breast mets
I have had radiation (10) to the hip and I'm taking
XGEVA
, FASLODEX, IBRANCE. My recent scans show no new cancer spots and the bone is slowly healing. I've experienced very little side effects on these 3 drugs.

Confused why one must continue Lupron since it shows it's not working?
My question is after about 15 months on lupron injections monthly his PSA started to rise so the doctor suggested we do Provenge and we did that now I'm told his PSA is still rising so the doctor said he will put him on
xgeva
or xtandi along with the lupron injections.
