How I Found Out I Was Ill...
To begin with I had asthma...probably why I was totally useless at games when in school because I couldn't run...especially when beefy girls with big thighs were chasing me on the hockey field... But I managed well enough...Mother didn't care for us being ill so she ignored me when I used to say I couldn't

Really need advice - what is wrong with me?
Hi, I only just joined today and its pretty much out of desperation because i think i need help and i dont know how to get it. I dont like admitting i have asthma. Ive had it mildly since i was a child and its never really stopped me doing anything. The most i would get is a mild coughing fit that would

Hi all, I have COPD which I believe in early stages though of late getting worse as I have had one virus after another
the first one was a very bad bout of Sinusitis which also ended with a cough so had some antibiotics which appeared to clear things up a lot then wham, within a few days went down with another virus this one very nasty as it has given me conjunctivitis for starters which the doctor said is viral, bad

What just happened?!
Hi guys Just freaked myself out a little, can anyone explain this? I've been struggling with asthma all week, brought on by hay fever. I've increased my inhalers but haven't noticed any difference yet. Today has been worse than normal, but then I have been carrying heavy shopping up steep hills all

Free Prescriptions for Asthmatics?
Am I the only one who is uncertain as to why asthma isn't an exclusion criterion for prescription charge payment? I guess I shouldn't be complaining just yet as I still fit neatly in the middle of the bracket that says, '16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education', so I don't pay anyway. But when I get

Somewhat belated introduction!
I probably should have introduced myself before posting about the woes of my asthma and commenting…sorry :) I am 17yo, biologically female but identify as male. Which kind of sucks but hey, that's life. I have 'hayfever', eczema and asthma (you would never have known that, would you?), and I suffer

How can my lungs get worse so quickly?!?!
I'm 17 (well, one more week and that will be true!). A year and a half ago, I had maybe mild intermittent asthma. I had a Ventolin inhaler for when I was breathless and that was it. I had had a Ventolin inhaler once before when I was 6 and I had a particularly bad chest infection and ended up with Prednisolone

Asthma and nebulisers
Hi, I have had very difficult asthma all my life. A few months ago I caught pneumonia and while I got slightly better I have never really recovered. Over the last couple of weeks my inhalers seemed to stop helping me completely. Unfortunately I don't respond to steroid pred no matter how high the dose

That's So Not Fair...!
I did ask ever so nicely and I can't have one...a longer tube thing for my oxygen. Apparently it's because the converter has a humidifier attached and that won't work if the tubing is any longer than it is at the moment...not much point in arguing about it. It's all very well being practically tethered

Managing asthma without medication
Hi, I'm a new poster so please go easy. I'm in the armed forces and I've developed asthma, I had it as a child but I'm in my thirties now and it's reared its head. I can't go to my doctor as I risk discharge so I have been self medicating with becotide and Ventolin. I was using medication occasionally

Persistent attacks
I have a question if anyone can help, or relate too... Since christmas I have had problems with my asthma. I've had lots of colds/viruses which always acts as a trigger. I was switched from becotide to seretide, which has subsequently increased to 250mg three times a day. And I keep having courses of

Constant coughing
Has anyone got any tips on dealing with a constant dry cough? I've had a bit of an ordeal with my 9 year old son over the past two days. He has mild asthma, we've had sketchy advice about how to deal with it, one nurse suggested it might not even be asthma. He's on ventolin and clenil but we stopped

Clear chest
My asthma is always a bit of b**ch to control but the last month and a half it has been a night mare. 2 hospital admissions and frequent drs trips. I have to take my ventolin through a spacer constantly now. I can't even put a number on how often I take it because it is just all the time. I sound constantly

Spiriva 18 microgram inhaler
Has anyone had any problems with Spiriva inhaler - I did try it many months ago but gave up after a couple of days due to side effects (I am very prone to side effects of so many drugs) so I stopped and over the time have tried many others and given up so I have just been on my Ventolin though not sure

Hoarseness
Hi, I had a chest infection for two months, January/ February, with a continual non productive cough (mostly). After 3 different antibiotics it has finally gone, but I am now suffering with my voice, by mid day it is very hoarse, I don't have a sore throat with it. I was wondering if this could be
