Severe brain injury update
Im not sure if i should take this as a good sign or not because i know people transitioning into
vegetative
state
can smile etc and i may be wrong but i thought going into a vegative state was not a good thing in regards to brain recovery.

Dad had Cardiac arrest with Hypoxia
She stated the brain stem was now somehow severed and there would be no recovery, he would need 24 hour care if he wakes up and will be in a
vegetative
state
. She said the brain stem was the only thing keeping him alive.

Permanent Vegetative State
I would love to talk to anyone who has experience of a family member in a permanent
vegetative
state
. I’m exhausted by it. I’m worn out and in all honesty, I don’t know how much longer I can carry on with this. I’m devastated by what happened to her and I miss her so much. Thanks, Kitty

Over 80, a month in the ICU
He is in what seems to be
vegetative
state
followed by two weeks in a coma. He was there due to a fall in the first place which he survived well however had a heart attack two days after he was in the icu. They resuscitated him but since then he’s unconscious.

Devastating stroke to my sons brain stem and the 3 year struggle to regain awareness and his tragic death
He never regained awareness and was in a
vegetative
state
for 3 years until his death on February 12, 2018. We tried unsuccessfully to bring Jared back and we are devastated by the three year journey and the loss of our son. Our suffering never ends.

Zolpidem trial - set up to fail?
My daughter, now 25, remains in a
vegetative
state
- or PDOC as I think we're now meant to call it, and I figured that even an 8% chance of raising her awareness was worth pursuing. We met with such negativity from the medics but pushed on anyway.

Has anyone tried Zolpidem on patient in PVS ?
So 8 months on and my daughter is still in a persistent
vegetative
state
- or PDOC as they now seem to call it. I have been researching Zolpidem which in clinical trials managed to restore some people to minimally conscious.

Vegetative State after 16 years
My grandma has been in a
vegetative
state
for over 16 years. She had an aneurysm in her head. It's been really hard seeing my mother deal with this for this amount of time. Is anyone going through this or can relate?

Dr Graham RV Hughes Blog: February 2019
His general condition worsened and he gradually deteriorated into a semi-
vegetative
state
. He survived a further two years or so, wheelchair bound in a chronic care centre, finally dying of infection. His medical team worked hard at investigating a possible cause.

Do Moderate/Severe Injuries (ABI) get better?
I read here about people minimal responsive or
vegetative
state
, and I read posts from people who had a brain injury, but who are now able to use a computer and drive and work. Does anyone know about someone in my brother's in-between state who got better? If yes, to what extent?

My brothers in a coma/vegetative state from an OD and I’m losing my mind.
Anyone else have a loved one in a coma or
vegetative
state
that it ended well? I need hope in this blackness.

Should I just accept that there's no hope?
5 weeks ago my 24 year old daughter suffered a hypoxic brain injury and is in a
vegetative
state
. Although kind in their delivery, the doctors have been quite clear that all of the scans show catastrophic brain damage and that there is no prospect of recovery.

Liver cirrhosis and coma
I've been searching on the net about stages of hepatic encepalopathy, coma and

A life of purpose with Traumatic Brain Injury
Firstly it is important to celebrate being alive, in my case I was all but written off as a PVS Permanent
Vegetative
State
case in Plymouth in 1983. After one month I started to show signs of recovery.

Can omega 3 be used for treating coma patient with hypoxic brain injury?
My father has been diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy after respiratory arrest due to medical error while having endoscopy, the oxygen supply wasn’t sufficient for about 25 mins , it has been 46 days today since his injury, and yet he’s still in what I can call
vegetative
state
, sometimes he’s more

Help I'm sinking
I feel like they don't care that he is just another patients in a
vegetative
state
in their mind and he is also a good candidate in their mind for long-term care so they're not even trying as hard as they should be. I guess my question is what should I do?

Fiance in a coma..
I feel so helpless I've been reading up on everything related to this situation even a sleeping pill zolpridem that has gotten people from
vegetative
state
to talking. I'm also upset because some donors want to talk with us. I'm never going to give up hope. He is all I have.

Is it me?
I’ve read stories on here about people who have had these injuries and been left in a
vegetative
state
. I wasn’t. I also read about people who couldn’t walk, talk, read or write, and had to re learn all these.
