I have PBC stage 1-2 and was put on
urso
twice a day. I have to go for an ultrasound next month for problems with my gall bladder. This site has been a blessing. It's has been really helpful to hear others experiences.

Non responder/clinical trial
I saw the consultant on Monday who confirmed I am a non responder to
urso
. He stated i am a long way off a liver transplant but they need to get me better treatment to improve my quality of life and hopefully prevent the need for a transplant in the future.

Stopping urso
I've been taking
urso
for 9 years but have gradually become intolerant and have stopped taking it two weeks ago. Feeling a lot better now. I was wondering if anyone else has stopped taking
urso
and why? Thanks.

I began taking
Urso
seven months ago, along with some pills to help me sleep without itching and some more to do something with the bile. I found I was sleeping about 20 hours a day and felt fatigued all the time. I could not get an answer from him as to what stage I was at.

AMA TEST
Is this due to being on
Urso
all these years, or is it possible that I had a false/positive AMA in 2007? Just looking for some thoughts...

Does PBC respond to steroids?
I was already on
Urso
and pred and Aza were then added to the mix. After a few months of steroids my LFT's had greatly improved and some were almost normal. Next I was told I didn't have AIH but PBC alone. I had to finish the Pred. And stop the aza right away.

Waiting for diagnosis
I had a liver biopsy in January as the liver function tests were borderline and this has shown both PBC and AIH so my consultant has written to a liver specialist at another hospital for a second opinion but has started me on
Urso
in the meantime. Is it normal to wait a year for a diagnosis?

Just diagnosed with PBC
Was prescribed
Urso
300 mg x 3 a day. Just curious as to what stage I might be in. Is this considered alot to take right off the bat and does this mean I have some liver damage? I feel fatigued all the time as well as queasy, best I can describe.

PBC and dietary advise
Have been taking 5 x 150mg
URSO
for about six weeks now. I asked the liver specialist about diet but she said none nesessary! Then she said, musingly, almost as talking to hershelf, that "Your cholesterol will of course be going trough the roof, but that we will deal with medication."!

Worried
Hi, I was diagnosed in 2011/12, started
Urso
but LFTs have never got back to normal. I've had an ultrasound which showed enlarged spleen and dilated bile duct, is this something that can happen with PBC ? Bit concerned, I've ended up having an MRI within 3 days of seeing consultant!

I read that it is not a good idea to take indigestion tablets as they could interact badly with
