Hi, I’ve had two thyroid tests with my GP and one private one with Yorktest. The GP says my levels are in the normal range, the Yorktest says otherwise and that I have a low thyroid. Anti-nuclear factor
Hi all, My most recent test results have, in addition to a high TSH (8.57 mlU/L, normal range 0.27-4.2) despite having had an increase of Levothyroxine to 100mcg in June and a TSH reading of 1.35 in August), my Anti- nuclear factor test has also come back positive, homogenous pattern. Has anyone else

Conundrum
Hello all, I posted many years ago about the rocky journey I've had with my thyroid. It's been 11 years since it went haywire having been perfectly well for 30 years on 100mcg following a thyroidectomy nearly 60 years ago. I am extremely sensitive to levo and can only tolerate small doses. I had been

Suspect Medichecks Thyroid test is incorrect! Is this possible?
Hi all hope everyone is well on this glorious autumn day. I am really well, but according to recent thyroid test done, via medichecks, 12 days ago I should be experiencing hypothyroid symptoms and really out of it but I am not. In fact I feeling really well, best in a long time, so beginning to suspect

NHS TSH test 1 week apart from Medichecks test
Hello again lovely people! I had an advanced Thyroid test done with Medichecks (venous sample following all recommendations on timing and supplements) which showed a TSH of 6.09miu/L (0.27-4.2) and I asked for advice from the forum on my full results as it said to me I need a dose increase (which also

T3 to T4 ratio - how to calculate
Hi, Could somebody help me please how to calculate T3 to T4 ratio? My FT3 was 4.31 (3.1-6.8) and FT4 was 15.5 (12-22) Additionaly TSH was 3.6 (0.27-4.2). It feels taht TSH was to high and the hormones were low? However the conversion possibly is not a problem?

Confirming blood tests needed to diagnose hyperthyroid (asking for my sister-in-law)
My sister-in-law told me that she recently was having trouble with excessive sweating... like, have to go home and change a drenched shirt kind of sweating. So as she said it in her words - She went to the general practitioner doctor, they did blood tests, and the numbers were low and so he's referring

Is this thyroid or perimenopause or something else?
About 3 months ago I had a few weeks of feeling dizzy, faint, low resting heart rate and brain fog. All these coincided with me losing weight - this may or may not be relevant. My levothyroxine dose got changed from 75 daily to 4 days of 75 and 3 days of 100, I also started taking multivitamins and my

Hello all. Following advice from SlowDragon, got GP to agree to Vit testing as T3 low and as SlowDragon though they would, they drew blood for Thyroid levels , too! Must say here, too, after GPS lowered my Levo, because I had too many hypo symptoms return, I upped the dose from 175 to 200 as on 200

Genome-wide association study of thyroid-stimulating hormone highlights new genes, pathways and associations with thyroid disease
Over the years, we have seen a lot of discussion here about genes – things like whether individuals have particular DIO2 variants, haemochromatosis genes, etc. Where members can get tests run, how much they cost, and what to do with them! A critical issue is that genetic analysis is so new, so current

Dexa scan and low vitamin D
A GP at the surgery is insisting on a dexa scan as my TSH has been suppressed since I trialled T3, and she’s adamant I’m to reduce my levo dose (see my last two posts if more information needed). My question is, I had dire vitamin D levels of 22 and deficiency for I suspect at least 7 years whilst carrying
