How long should it take for a chest wound to close?
He had to have a
tracheostomy
on June 3 to help him be weaned from the vent, which he was, and he still has necrotic tissue, mainly on the toes of the right foot, for which we are seeing a wound care specialist. The wound care specialist is also caring for the chest wound from the two surgeries.

Stroke patient not coming off sedation
My husband had a stroke on the 23rd, he went into the hospital able to talk and move his right side and starting to regain the ability to move left side. He was admitted. Next day they did a TEE test where they say his throat became occluded and the had to incubate him. Afterwards still could follow

They said if they cant wake him they will give him a
tracheostomy
as they belive its the ventilator thats causing him to be really agitated.. i guess what I'm asking for is what will happen next.

Waking up from deep sedatives in ICU.
Waking up from sedation...what should I expect? My Dad went in for bypass surgery which went fine and on the day he was to come home he had a reaction to Heparin which was HIT type II rare response. They found clots in his heart and he had a heart attack shortly after in the ICU. He went in for emergency

Are we nearing the end?
We did finally get palliative in home care and she just recently underwent the procedure to get a feeding tube and
tracheostomy
as she has full paralysis of her throat as she was extremely malnourished from inability to eat.

Miracles do happen 🙏🏻 Tony - Covid19: 1-0
The second
tracheostomy
had to be done in the theatre. He had every infection and bug there is out there, including CMV virus, he had a very severe case of acute pancreatitis, his liver failed, he was on a feeding tube for 3 months.

Home Time For Dad
He was in ICU for two weeks and initially got a chest infection, the had to put a
tracheostomy
in place to manage to reduce his sedation levels. When his sedation were reduced, he still wasn’t responding.

2 months and still not fully awake
It has been 2 months since my husband was admitted to the ICU. He’s now got a tracheotomy, no sign of any infection as it’s all cleared and is doing fine. The only thing is, he’s still not conscious.. he opens his eyes looks around, reacts to pain but doesn’t respond to basic commands.. ( his brain Mri

2 months in; still fighting but her doctors want to stop treatment
Her lungs have improved and one of her pulmonologist told us my mom can be given a
tracheostomy
and weaned (however before she could put in for that my mom would need to be off norepinephrine).

ICU sedation
He has a
tracheostomy
last Wednesday, as they were struggling to reduce the sedation and were worried about infection. They have now successfully managed to reduce his sedation fully. He is still on a ventilator however is doing all the hard work himself apparently.

Anxiety and vent weaning? Also a novel of my moms icu experience
Long story but I will try to make this as short as I can. My mom has been on the ventilator for 3 months. She ended up in the hospital having trouble breathing and she had a low heart rate. She had to to get put on the ventilator. She was getting better, got off of the ventilator and out of the ICU but

93 days in hospital with covid - 19 and finally home!
Week 3 he had a
tracheostomy
fitted, week 4 the
tracheostomy
started to bleed back into his lungs, he was drowning in his own blood. Again we was told he had a slim chance of survival. The amazing team at Lincoln saved him!

Husband in ICU 30 days
They said his body and organs were under so much stress and shock it set off all kinds of problems. 6/23 they did a
tracheostomy
and he is still on the ventilator. Although thank God he is day by day doing better, one of my fears is the ICU delirium I have heard about and read about.
