Update on Sister

Hey guys!! Hope you are all doing well! I know I haven’t put any updates I’ve been really busy with work and taking care of my kids along with my sisters kids but thank god my sister is much better now!! The tracheotomy was successful about 3 weeks ago she is wide awake she FaceTime us about 3 times a day. She’s still very weak specially with her right arm. She’s still on the ventilator thru the trachea but settings are low she’s at 30% fio2 and peep is at 5. She still has a cough and her heart rate has been in the 120’s for about a week now they say that’s her hearts new normal. They say they think she should be able to come off of the ventilator soon but She’s still in the ICU only because they haven’t found a Rehab center for her. It’s been really hard to find a place that’s willing to accept her because her COVID test keeps coming back POSITIVE! Did any of you experience that with their loved one still coming back positive?! It’s very confusing since she is no longer showing Pneumonia or ARDS or Congestive heart failure. She is now being seen by a regular dr not a ICU dr because they say she is no longer critical🙏🏼 But they keep saying it’s very hard for them to be able to transfer her elsewhere due to the positive test. My sister gets very frustrated and calls us crying that she wants to come home that she doesn’t wanna be in the icu anymore. She is very traumatized specially because she sees when a patient loses there battle in the ICU. She has a lot of nightmares and delirium so we don’t know what else to do. Other than that doctors say she good and just needs her recovery part so she can come home. Thank you all for your prayers and wonderful words hope all of you are well!!

That’s really good news and shows she is still fighting. Actually she may be better off being in ICU as the care is different in other wards they just don’t have the staff. Not only that they don’t necessarily have the same experience that the ICU staff have.
