Abatacept
I have been told the next drug they will try will be
Tocilizumab
but after reading about the drugs on the internet i came across one called ABATACEPT that is supposed to be as effective as the others but with a lot less side effects but no one has mentioned this one to me.

"2 weeks after infusion of tocilizumab at hospital,-has anyone had any positive or negative results so far ?
This is my fourth biologic drug and I am desparate to get some relief, after 4 years diagnosed. It would be great to hear from those who have also tried it. At the moment I have been having terrible side effects including, nausea, mouth ulcers, v. loose bowels, bloating and remain in flare up. How long

At the rheumies conference.
There was news of research taking place into the use of new drugs, particularly
tocilizumab
(an immune suppresant) and lodotril (which is a slow release version of prednisolone). Also a research project based at Keele University looking into how PMR and GCA are managed by GPs in primary practice.

Reducing my MTX!
He's not happy though as he knows how difficult my RA is to control, again he mentioned going onto
Tocilizumab
as the Rituximab is not lasting like it was.

Getting too cautious I feel!!!!!
So they have asked me to consider
Tocilizumab
! which is a monthly infusion. I can see why they are being cautious as if I get too much in a flare it takes too long to get me out of it (even though I'm not having a flare at the moment) they feel I may soon have one!!!

Your help please - RoACTEMRA (tocilizumab) case studies required!
We need you to be currently managed on RoACTEMRA (
tocilizumab
), if possible having achieved remission. Another valuable element is if you've had an elongated treatment journey before being put on RoACTEMRA. Do please let me know if any of these apply to you - I'd be extremely grateful.

Tocilizumab not working- So What Next?
I was only diagnosed two years ago but I have already lost most of the mobility in my left hand and can hardly stand up long enough to take a shower. It seems that the drugs dont work for me. MTX makes me feel dreadfully nauseous, gives me flue like symptoms of aching all over and terrible fatigue. I
