COPD - left on our own to just get on with it!
Sound a bitter title but feel we have our reasons. My husband has COPD and other health issues has recently been in hospital when he collapsed at home with respiratory failure, we were told that he had an hour to live if the BiPAP machine didn't kick in! It did thank goodness much to the relief of

First nebuliser last night and I need some advice
I'm seventeen, and I've lived with asthma for about 10 years. I'm on Ventolin and Qvar 100. Okay so since Monday to today (Thursday) I've been away on a residential. And last night I had a pretty bad asthma episode; the staff called an ambulance and they treated me with salbutomol and oxygen and discharged

Portable Nebuliser (can use in car!)
After my husbands panic attack last week, I remembered I had bought a portable nebuliser for the car when we ventured to France three years ago. I retrieved it from under the passengers seat and realised neither of us had a clue how to use it! Armed with "in date" nebules we unpacked it. What a great

Nebulisers - stupid questions....
Wife uses one when admitted to hospital but I understand you can get home ones? Few questions:- 1. Do you have to buy your own or will NHS provide? 2. What about what goes in the nebuliser? I presume you need a prescription for this? 3. Are the home ones as good as ones in hospital?

Wife, 41, pregnant, asthma bad - what next?
Wife has had asthma for 4-5 years. She takes the blue pump and purple one and is usually pretty good. However, shes now 20 weeks pregnant and has been getting worse over the past two months (which apparently can happen with pregnancy). To say the NHS have been clueless with this is the understatement

Worth Reading
A decade ago, Edna Shattuck of Washington, D.C., began noticing that tasks she had no trouble doing before, like walking the dog and carrying groceries, left her breathless. When Shattuck, then in her late fifties, saw her doctor about her breathing problems, she was diagnosed with COPD Without question
