Hypothyroidism help
I had a thyroidectomy in 1984, to remove benign growths. The surgeon said about 25% thyroid remained, but he thought I would not need subsequent medication. I was not told to have regular thyroid function tests, and carried on with my busy life. After unrelated throat surgery in 1997, my consultant asked

Happy New Year! Newbie, posting results for help/advice please following my “shock” post in December
Still trying to digest everything from my December diagnosis of Hashimoto’s and advice given. Instead of adding to my previous post I thought it better to begin a new one to incorporate my blood results that several of you kind people requested. I still cannot fathom that I need to take medication for

The uptake results are in... and more confusion
I've received my uptake scan results today, which I was expecting to show a toxic nodule or few. Instead the report states..... There is uptake seen throughout the thyroid gland with relative increased tracer activity on the right when compared to the left, however, no focal nodule is seen. Thyroid

Thyroid scan advice and recommendations please
Good Afternoon everyone 😊 Thyroid UK recommends London Private Ultrasound Clinic. Please could anyone who has used them private message me with your experiences, good or bad, or anything I should be aware of beforehand? I'm thinking of having a scan with them as I will be in London for another reason

Thyroid hormone homeostasis in levothyroxine-treated patients: Findings from ELSA-Brasil
From paper Antonio C Bianco has posted on Twitter about this new paper (of which he is a listed author). The first quote below has the image above attached. The second quote has a different image from the paper. [i]Can this be called normal? Look at T4 and T3 levels in LT4-treated patients with normal

A message for Admin
Hello Admin. I posted recently and received a message from a scammer on here. You closed the chat thread so I can no longer see it. I was seeking advice on NDT availability. In short, I was contacted by a “member” who directed me to a SCAM website called [site name edited by admin]. I lost over £150

Exercise and Low Thyroid: Am I doing more harm than good? Advice, please!
I would like to ask about having low thyroid levels and doing exercise. I have hypo symptoms, and blood tests show low FT3 and FT4, but normal TSH (for reference, last blood test results are below). So far, no doctor or endocrinologist thinks I have any thyroid issue. One of my symptoms has been unexplained

Erfa swap update
my ferritin has just come back as 28 (5-204) I think this is my iron store so it’s clearly deficient. I’ve struggled with anaemia since I was about 18 (maybe before but no cause before then for a blood test it was discovered when I became a donor) No one has ever given me a reason for this! And I

Considering Private??
Hello, just considering a plan B really... Poured my heart out (via the online form) with my local GP Surgery today and received a text response saying need to re-do bloods, so I booked this soonest I could get (2 and half week for just appointment with phlebotomist) so no doubt pending results would

Fasting home blood test
Following my previous post in which I reported my results from 20/02/24, I did a fasting home test from "monitor my health" on 18/03/24 to try to get a more accurate picture. These are the results: 18/03/24: TSH: 4.47 (0.27-4.2) (20/02/24: 5.37) FT4: 15 (12-22) (20/02/24: 13.8) FT3: 4.1

Suppressed TSH but hypo symptoms
Cold turkey stopped levothyroxine (synthroid) 200mcg for 17 days in Nov 2022. Prior, felt great. Went back on 200mcg right away and had every hyperthyroid symptom, it was hell. (tsh 0.04 FT4 18 (9-19)) I have been trying to find my dosage ever since. Titrated from 125mcg, 150mcg, 175mcg, 200mcg.

If you visited a different time zone (-2hrs) for a week, would you adjust your dosage TIMING to match new time zone, or home time zone?
Would appreciate any advice on timing of taking thyroid meds, if travelling to a different time zone. I will be away for a week where the time zone is 2hrs difference. I normally take my NDT at 6am each day. Will the timing of taking the thyroid meds matter much for this short trip? I just don't know

Can thyroid tap or pulse?
Hi, I have been having a number of issues which I thought were low thyroid related, or B12 deficient, both bloods currently look fine thought, apart from my thyroid peroxidase antibodies which have risen from 468KIUL to 502KIUL (range 0-34). What I would like to know is, can thyroid tap or pulse? I

First NHS Endo Apt - a battle story
I finally have an NHS endo apt (which they cancelled but I begged to get reinstated) and wanted to be armed with questions - can you help? ... Short story is I've been battling joint/limb pain/numbness for 5 years and been through many departments and had MRI/PET SCANs - all clear. MS/Rheumatism/Lupus

Thyroid function tests
Hi all, The GP has printed off a form for me to take to the hospital tomorrow to check my TSH levels. I’ve noticed on the form it says, ‘thyroid function tests’. Does this include T3 and T4? I know last time I only had a result for TSH. If so, do I need to fast? My test isn’t until 4pm.

New Hyperthyroidism diagnosis
Hi all, I am new here and have found reading through all the information I’ve found here invaluable. I have recently been diagnosed as having hyperthyroidism- my story is in my bio. I have my first endocrinologist appointment this week and I’m not sure what to expect. My GP wouldn’t prescribe Carbimazole

T4 and integrin receptors
I've come across integrin receptors mentioned in a few papers recently where t4 seems to have some activity (generally its assumed t4 is not an active hormone), so was interested to read the following paper. This is yet another good reason for t3/t4 combination treatment. "Preliminary clinical evidence

Feeling scared and lost :(
Hi everyone! I write this post to seek some guidance/support/advice as I am terrified of what to expect. 😢 I have been feeling completely exhausted over the last few months, which I thought was due to stress and possibly burnout. That was until I found a lump on my neck, and found it difficult to
