I have decided to reduce my thyroxine and self medicate with T3 but need some help.....!
I had a
thyroidectomy
in 1992. Been on thyroxine since then. Daily dose prescribed is 100mcg. Furthermore I do have a supply of Liothyronine 20mcg. My age is 68. Any suggestions please as to appropriate reduction of levothyroxine and added dose of T3?

Would someone like to comment on these test results please ?
I've been placed on the waiting list for
thyroidectomy
. Apparently my thyroid is a problematic one and they (endo.gp) are unable to figure out why it is behaving this way.

Post thyroidectomy care
Hello, Haven’t been here for a while as I’ve been okayish after total
thyroidectomy
in March. Well, sort of. I’ve also had laparoscopy in the meantime which uncovered severe endometriosis. So the focus has been on that in the last few months.

After Thyroidectomy
Hi, I have two questions, and hopefully I can get some help. 1. Does somebody whose thyroid glands were completely removed can have Hashimoto? 2. What does it mean, where is the problem if the TSH is very high 8.61( 0.39-4.00), FT3 2.1 (2.3-4.2), FT4 0.8 (0.8-1.5) many thanks in advance

Such a thing as different ‘normals’?
I had a partial
thyroidectomy
a year ago and my energy levels are dreadful along with other symptoms such a weight gain and low mood and anxiety. Before I had the operation my TSH levels were consistently between 0.49-0.7.

Is my dose too low?
Hi everyone :-) Some background: Total

Strange reaction to exercise post hemi-thyroidectomy
Hi all, I’m 5 weeks post hemi-
thyroidectomy
for a large benign single nodule. I’ve been recovering well although my thyroid is definitely not back to normal yet (I’ve put on weight, had constipation, dry skin, been tired etc). Anyway I’ve been gradually building up my strength.

My meeting with Endo predictable with some surprises
Hi, had my meeting, told him Iv never felt well on just thyroxine after my
thyroidectomy
and I would like to try t3 as a trial. Answer, you have t3 in your body.....I said yes but not much because I don’t convert well.

Advice and guide to know how much T3 can I start taking, please!
Hello there, First of all I would like to know if any of your endocrinologists also rely on weight to prescribe T3 regardless of blood tests A year and a half ago I had
thyroidectomy
and so far I have not felt well, my husband found this forum recently and we are reading and learning from several experiences

Is it too soon for thyroidectomy?
My Endo has recommended a
thyroidectomy
since my case was severe and believes chances are low that it will go into remission if I stopped meds and also considering I want to try for a baby soon.

Rookie question
Hi there, I had a full
thyroidectomy
in summer 2018 (follicular and papillary cancer found), radioactive iodine at the end of last year and have been for a scan and blood tests (post Thyrogen injections) a couple of weeks ago.

Help needed please: After 21 years of being on 3 grains of various NDT plus antidepressants (originally given because of Graves disease which resulted in a
thyroidectomy
) was urged by pharmacist to come off dosulepin which I did (the last antidepressant taken in September.

No thyroid but feeling swollen
It’s been 8 months since I had a
thyroidectomy
. It’s been up and down but generally bearable. In the last week I have an uncomfortable feeling in my neck which I wasn’t expecting. Almost like something is swollen inside but I don’t have a thyroid so I’m confused.

Just found out I'm pregnant 10 months after my Total Thyroidectomy, advice needed please :)
Hi, I had a Total
Thyroidectomy
in January and was told last month that my levels are normal. So my partner and I decided to start trying for a baby. I've been very fortunate and just discovered that I am 2-3 weeks pregnant. I've booked an appointment at my GP for Thursday.

Endocrinology surgeon
Hello, can anyone please recommend a really experienced surgeon for thyroidectomies either Nhs or private, in the south of England or in London? If you could inbox me I’d much appreciate it. Thank you.

Total or partial thyroidectomy, a good reason to monitor bone density?
Reuter health article, research is flawed as its a retrospective study but one good point made is that current recommendations do not include monitoring bone density which seems to be a fairly obvious requirement in
Thyroidectomy
- for thyroid cancer at least.
