Theophylline vs montelukast
I have been on
theophylline
for the best part of 30 years but for the past 6 months or so I'm having difficulty in getting my asthma back to being controlled, so my gp has prescribed this change. Just wondering about your experiences with this drug. I have a four week trial.

Efficacy and safety of inhaler steroids in COPD patients
Moreover, there is increasing evidence for the beneficial effects of anti-inflammatory drugs like
theophylline
in COPD patients which may be able to promise better outcome with fewer side effects than inhaled steroids..."

Theophylline Advice
I'm two weeks into taking
theophylline
and I was really hopeful that it was going to sort my asthma out! I'm having palpitations, irregular heartbeats and my blood pressure was high when at the doctors. Does anyone else have any experience of taking
theophylline
with these side effects?

Unstable, uncontrolled asthma and been on every possible inhaler, I'm on xolair also. ANY ONE ON THEOPHYLLINE??
Not much improvement imo but I asked about uniphyllin or
theophylline
and consultant declined. I've been on every inhaler on the market, added into this was spiriva - stopped as pressure behind my eyes and they added Seebri which I don't really take as it makes me cough continually.
