What does this medication do

I have been told that I would benefit from being on theophylline but that it would be too difficult to balance the dose. I'm pretty sensitive to side effects and already on DMARDS - my Rheumy shuddered at the thought of me going on it.

Been on Uniphyllin for over 10 years now with no problems.

I only got a little worried when she said that they can be poisenes if it is not the right dose

I was briefly on it years ago during an asthma hospitalisation. It did nothing for me. I too have always heard you need regular monitoring.

Hi David. I haven't ever used this drug but at the rusk of sounding agresive your doctor needs to go back to med school. She should be discussing risk & benefits & advising you how to take this medication safely, if age can't talk to your pharmacist. Good luck hi St

Hi David I have been on this drug for about 18 months now. The first couple of weeks were hard as I kept experiencing nausea and tummy pains also felt dizzy all about an hour after taking them. I persevered as my consultant had told me the side effects, but she had also told me that they wouldn't last forever just until my system got used to them. I also have a couple of blood tests a years to check my levels. I now take 350 in the morning and 250 at night. I am very happy taking them as I have only had two infections whilst being on them. My sister tried them some twenty years ago but gave up because of the side effects.
