I have asthma and am on
Qvar
. My current flair up started on January first at 3:30am, and since I was incarcerated I was not able to get any medication for 4 months later when I was released. Upon being released I was prescribed the
Qvar
inhaler. That was 3 months ago.

Fostair
Dionysius1662 I have been prescribed Fostair after using
QVar
inhaler for years. It is making me feel shaky and sickly. Will this pass, this is day 2.

Successful stepping down from inhalers
I’m currently reducing my dose of
qvar
from 80 to 40, I’m doing it super slowly because I’m afraid of having a flare. Thanks!

Difficult to diagnose and treat asthma, not VCD... 3rd asthma doctor needed
I’ve tried Flovent,
QVar
, Symbicort, Breo 100 and I am now on Breo 200. I am allergic to dust mites and mold and ragweed. Do they do allergy shots for that? What else do they do for hard to treat asthma? Thanks for any ideas or thoughts on this.

Worry about long term side effects of Ventolin.
Until very recently I have been using
Qvar
and Ventolin to treat my Asthma. Lately my doctor has said my asthma has become more chronic because I am older and that long term use of Ventolin may have caused my airways to tighten permanently.

Another update - 8 weeks and counting
After obeying the GP who told me the cough was pharygeal and to take a cough suppressant and reduce the
QVar
(brown) inhaler, and that I did not have asthma, unsurprisingly things became worse.

Still poorly after nearly seven weeks :( med side effects?
I use a
QVar
inhaler - and the side-effects mention all of the above signs and symptoms. I am sorely tempted to stop taking it! Being sensible though, I suppose I should ring my GP and suggest stopping or changing it first. I am sooooo fed up with feeling so ill.

I'm terrified
I have been on
QVAR
for 6 days with no improvement and worsening of some symptoms. I can hear myself wheezing all the time but noone that listens to my chest seems to be able to hear anything. Tried to google things to help but there is nothing comforting out there.

Bronchiectasis diagnosis
The only medication I have been given is
Qvar
, but it doesn't seem to have improved my breathlessness. I've never been given any information leaflets by the hospital.

What can cause lung obstruction?
I also have asthma which on montelukast,
qvar
and spiriva has only mildly improved my spirometry test. I also have mild hyperthyroidism but currently my levels are normal with meds. Does anyone have any feedback as to what could cause lung obstruction? The pulmonologist says I don’t have copd.

New Meds
Hello I had real problems with breathlessness, and my Consultant changed my meds to
Qvar
(twice a day) and Spiolto Respimat (Once a day) also Ventolin when needed. My breathlessness has improved but not as much as I hoped.

zafirlukast and montelukast
I am only on a two week trial for montelukast (along with my normal
qvar
inhaler) as it previously gave me weird side effect to see if they still occur. My asthma nurse is brilliant but I want to go armed with suggestions if possible! Thanks!

Getting around faulty inhaler.
I use a
Qvar
Easi-breathe but this is the second faulty one I've had. So to get around the problem of it not delivering when I suck, I just take the top off and press as you do when testing it. I do this when it's in my mouth though and I suck at the same time.

Qvar Easi-breathe problems
I have recently been prescribed with a
Qvar
Easi-breathe inhaler. However, sometimes it does not deliver a dose and I have to take the top off to check it is still active. After I've done that it usually works. I am quite alarmed that such a thing doesn't always work properly.

Tight chest but normal PF
Hi guys, I had a flare up about 2 months back and after a tough couple of weeks when I moved from
Qvar
to Fostair it helped me get things back under control. Not totally back to normal but certainly back on track.

Hyperthyroidism and asthma
Anyway I’m on
qvar
and spiriva but since my spirometry tests barely improved I was also given montelukast. I read that montelukast can cause hyperthyroidism and wondering if it can also trigger it?

Having been prescribed
Qvar
at an emergency doctor's appointment we found when visiting the resp nurse that it's not certified for COPD... I did notice the blurb stating it was an asthma drug but who am I to argue with the medics? At least it seemed to be beneficial.

Too much medicine?
He is keeping me on the high dose of symbicort and also added
qvar
80. They told me to use both inhalers morning and night.
