Recipes for Questran if you are struggling!

Just saw somebody mention cooking with it, alarm bells rang as I would put money on heating it removing its efficacy. However these are sauces and soups and meals only to be added after.

Hope it may help a few.

Hi Jo_Br

I think these cooking ideas are for those that Questran was originally prescribed for. For us with the so called itch of PBC it is best taken just before and just after breakfast whilst the bile is in the bowel. I hope I have remembered that correctly. I have tried it sprinkled on porridge but that was totally gag worthy, I did not like it much with milk on cereal, I tried it in baby's apple sauce (to lazy to peel an apple for that purpose) and it was gross. I have settled on a thick fruit juice which I can manage.

Aww shucks, yes the Questran is before and after meals, so useless recipes hehe, can I blame my brain fog? ;)

Ha ha yes of course. I would probably have forgotten were it not for my daily struggle. I think there is a tablet replacement cannot remember the name but it is much more expensive - go figure! However if you can find out what it is called it might be an alternative for you ss your body rejected the powder form. :-)

I add mine to diet ocean spray cranberry pineapple or mango juice and guzzle it down. Its god awful but if you gotta take it.

I tried doing a smoothie that was a joke. It binded my ice into a clump my juice was on the bottom. The ball of ice had my powder in it.

Yes, I tried a smoothie, it definitely lost the name smooth. I used cranberry too, my fave drink, gone off it now should have used a less favourite drink.
