Pramipexole

I’m augmented on Pramipexole and my GP is happy to leave me going out of my mind without any support whatsoever, I believe they have zero understanding of RLS.

I am coming off pramipexole, withdrawing slowly. I am reducing by half a tablet every 2 to 3 weeks. I have now cut out 3 x half tablets. I am suffering all sorts of weird symptoms.

Itw worked, I felt with in like 30 minutes my body was slowly relaxing. My legs and feet weren't as sore and it helped me get a few hours sleep . i have a neurologist appointment via video link 26th October. Thankyou everyone for your kind words . 🙏

I have been on Pramipexole 0.088 mg x2 for years. I am augmenting on this dose for several months now and won’t increase as I am so afraid and nervous about withdrawing from the 2 I’m on. I take Magnesium daily.

I am down to a quarter of 0.88mg of pramipexole a night. I have been taking Pregabalin for 4 weeks and now on 75 mg nightly and iron every other night. I went without the pramipexole the night before last and was up most of the night, finally getting some sleep at 8 in the morning.

I am slowly cutting out pramipexole, by half a tablet every 2 to 3 weeks. I am exhausted, particularly in the mornings. Afternoons are a bit better. Touchwood I seem to sleep, I’m not passing the house in the middle of the night with restless legs. Okay this in itself is a bonus!

He confirms that dopamine agonists ( Ropinirole,Pramipexole, Neupro patch) all lead to severe worsening of RLS and most doctors routinely overprescribe them instead of keeping levels below the max dose set out by FDA in USA (and in NHS guidelines in UK.)

Pramipexole worked great for 20 years before suspected augmentation. Currently, I take 1mg Neupro patch (3 months now) and 15 mg Methadone (one year) at 9pm. Lyrica and similar drugs just did not work for me. The muscle weakness is about 50 % causing a wobbly sensation.

Thanks in no small part to the advice and support of folk in this group, and the agreement of my GP (who has been amazing in my RLS/PLMD journey), I have begun to try coming of Pram. Also reducing my antidepressants. To help others, I plan to post my experience on here. Watch this space!

She is not taking much in at all, and losing weight … yesterday, I crushed her meds (which isn’t much now) - Baclofen, Pramipexole, and Trazadone at night to help sleep —- 95% of the time these days is crushing to administer.

I Took Pramipexole for man years until I went into Ugmentation and had to get off. My symptoms are as soom as I lie down, my feet have to keep moving. I have to get up and walk. Keep pressure on them. I get on stationary bike, put them on ice, get in hot tub until they calm down.

I have cut out half a pramipexole and due to cut out a second half of one this week. Currently I take a half on a Wednesday, so I thought I would cut a half out on the Saturday. Just to spread out the effects I guess.

UPDATE: I am now being prescribed the Pramipexole 0.88mg, one 3-4 hrs before bed, after being told “up your Ropinirole from 2mg to 4mg” which I point blank refused to do. So with the first Pramipexole came the proper rested sleep for days. But I feel drunk/tired through the day.

A year ago she was first prescribed pramipexole (0.25 and she takes 1.5 pills) and neurontin to take occasionally, and it first was working great, but in 6 months it got worse, she tried Requip, but it doesn't really help much.

I tried high doses of gabapentin before I added the pramipexole and it did nothing for the RLS but with the pramipexole it really helped, do i stay on the pramipexole & up the gabapentin dose? Any advice would be much appreciated, I've been down all other routes, ie. Iron etc..

I am cutting down on pramipexole. And I really appreciate the advice and help him by members of this group. Does anybody else find that when their legs are particularly restless they also have tummy ache?

My mom use to walk the floor at night due to RLS ( there wasnt a name for it back then) and now if i dont take 2 Ropinpole by 3 pm and a pramipexole before going to sleep ( not likely with insomnia) my left leg goes crazy.

At that time I was put on Pramipexole and Rasagaline and several years later- Sinemet.

Pramipexole, the Neupro patch or other dopamine agonists, PLEASE REPORT it via https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/ Unless and until the authorities and medical profession see the scale of suffering, these drugs will keep being prescribed and we will not get the help we need during withdrawal.
