Gabapentin side effects

Hi All

I was weaned(a bit too quickly) off pramipexole and am now on 1600 mgs of Gabapentin.My RLS are slightly improved but I have very broken sleep.More worrying for me is the onset of extreme anxiety:/depression.This may have been triggered by the traumatic withdrawal I experienced coming off the pramipexole or by the effects of reducing it.Its3months since I came off it completely.I am wondering has anyone else experienced anxiety /depression as a result of taking GABA.Everyone seems to have very positive experiences.I was feeling fine before this change of meds.My neurologist is going to get advice about alternative meds.

Unfortunately depression and anxiety can be a side effect of gabapentin. I would ask for trazodone which can treat both of these.

Thank you so much for your reply Sue.I am not familiar with Trazodone.I currently take Prozac(fluoxetine) but not sure if it helps.Am seeing Neurologist and GP tomorrow for review of med so I will mention trazodone.I am in the Uk.Will report back for any others who might have same problems.Many thanks again.

Prozac makes RLS worse for most.
