Pradaxa and urinary tract infection
I am experiencing my 5th urinary tract infection since starting
pradaxa
. Infections started 10 days after starting
pradaxa
150 MGM twice a day. I am 73 yo female, 120 pounds. I wonder if there is anyone else who has experienced this? I am on my 5th course of antibiotics.

Change of Meds after Gastric Bypass
Just changed from 2x 150mg
Pradaxa
to 2x 5mg Apixaban after a successful gastric bypass last Friday. The apiaban should react better. Anyone else changed from/to these meds?

Heart rate post exercise.
I will be weening off these meds in two to three weeks (while staying on
Pradaxa
) Overall my post ablation recovery involved no instances of AFIB, no noticeable ectopics, or other side effects that I experienced the first time around.

Beta blocker necessary?
I am on
pradaxa
and metaprolol half of 25 MGM twice a day. I have not taken the beta blocker for 3 days because I am out of town and forgot to take it with me and local pharmacy had trouble getting it. Anyhow after missing 3 days worth I think I feel better without it.

Uncontrolled bleeding events with Ibrutinib and in general
The newer blood thinning agents such as
Pradaxa
(Dabigatran) or Factor Xa blood thinners Xaralto (Rivaroxaban), Eliquis (Apixaban) & Savaysa (Edoxaban) may or may not have their own agents to reverse blood thinning.

Pradaxa (Dabigatran) V's Warfarin
Hi all Just wondering if anyone has made the switch from Warfarin to
Pradaxa
? My GP says I could be a candidate for it and it could be more advantageous for me given my age and rather than having to monitor INR's all the time. I have APLS and SLE and have been on warfarin + plaquenil since 2005.

Re Dental Treatment.
I commented that my dentist and her hygienist are totally unfazed by me taking
Pradaxa
. I also said that for some reason she asks if I have taken steroids or been injected in the past 2 years. To-day I have asked her about this.

Confused - what exactly is AF?
I was diagnosed just a couple of months ago and put on
Pradaxa
and Bisoprolol. I have in the past had a few scary episodes when my heart rate varied between very rapid and slow thumpy beats. But I quite frequently got a simple raised heart rate, occasionally associated with some irregularity.

Ablation # 2
Went off meds after 3 months (except
Pradaxa
) to assess success of procedure and immediately went into AFIB which was captured while wearing an event monitor.

Hi, I'm taking
pradaxa
twice a day and 50mg metroporol twice a day. I feel a bit muzzy headed after after taking these. I'm also taking 8mg of perinderpril once a day which I have been taking for five or six years with no side effects. I think it's the metroporol which is giving me problems.

New to AF
So taking
Pradaxa
and Bisoprolol 1.25mg (mini dose). First off I find the latter turns me into a zombie. Spaced out is an understatement. So I take them only when the AF gets really bad.

Dental surgery
Hi everyone, I've been taking
Pradaxa
for about two and half weeks and today was told I need surgery to remove a molar. I'm not concerned about the procedure because having AFib is far worse. I spoke to nurse at EP office about when to stop the
Pradaxa
and she was vague.

Unexpected Pregnancy with APS
I've been switched (first call was to my hematologist) from
Pradaxa
to Lovonox shots. My husband doesn't know yet because he's at work. I start law school next year. I'm worried about everything but also about how to tell him. We had agreed not to have kids. Now this.

How high is too high for HR
One issue in taking two doses a day is that the veraprimil must be taken at least two hours after the
Pradaxa
which makes for a scheduling nightmare.
