‘Textbook asthma’ if there is such a thing!
Got told by the paramedics today that I’m an enigma! I’ve had asthma since I was two and I’m now thirty two, my wheeze has always been upper respiratory and my SATS are always 100% I have stridor with every attack and I’m that calm that paramedics have walked in and said, ‘oh it is you, you’re very

chest tightness and breathing difficulty - exploring to find cause if anyone experienced same symptoms
On a daily basis I feel mild chest tightness in left part of my chest only, but on some days, I feel I am having very hard time breathing, and then I have to take bronco dilator inhaler. I feel heaviness only in left part of my chest, right part I feel completely normal. When I take Albuerol It gives

Coping with boredom
Despite having an excellent couple of weeks while on holiday in Lanzarote I’ve now come home and my lungs are really not happy about the pollen! My peak flow has gone from 450 or so to 230 this morning so my maintenance prednisolone has gone back up to 40mg 😩 (although I had only managed to reduce

Update
Hi all! So just wanted to update those who gave me advice last week when I was feeling very down about things. After some serious thinking and talking to family and friends, I saw my asthma nurse on Monday as I wanted to ask her if my cough could possibly be being caused by something other than asthma

Peak flow fall after taking symbicort 😕
Hi all. Sorry to bother you again. Following a recent flare I was prescribed symbicort and although my asthma nurse didn't advise me to do so I thought it might be a good idea to keep a record of my peak flow over the next few weeks till I see her again next month. They have been a bit all over the

Asthma flare not settling....
Hi all, I'm a (usually) well controlled asthmatic on Seretide 125 twice daily with very occasional use of ventolin. About a month ago after a week of camping/being outdoors, my asthma flared (tight chest, no wheeze or cough) and I was started on Pred 40mgs daily for 5 days. (only had x1 course of steroids

Mir smart one
Hi, I am considering buying a smart peak flow meter. Does anyone have any personal experiences of using one? Are they relatively easy to use? I do have a traditional type peak flow meter - which even with glasses on I find near impossible to read at the best of times, plus recording the reading is a

Stress and Peak flow
My peak flow has been about 70% of normal for the last week. I can't think of any reason for that, except its been an unusually stressful week. Does anyone else find stress affects them? and if so what do you do to get your peak flow back up?

Help Getting FEV1 Percentage From Liters
Hello, this is probably pretty simple for some but quite confusing for me. I have a Microlife peak flow meter and it does give the FEV1 but it does it in Liters and not percentages, which is the standard I can understand most. For example it says PEF is 447 Liters and then says my FEV1 is 2.77 Liters

Am I getting the right treatment?
Hi I have struggled with my breathing for about 10 years and didn't mention it to the doctor until 3 years ago. I was in denial and a smoker. I had a lung x ray and peak flow tests at my gp surgery. The GP told me I have stage 4 COPD and gave me spirva inhaler and a steroid inhaler. I also have a rescue

What it's like in Japan
Thought I would share what a visit is like with my doctor (also venting). This is kind of typical, especially when we are concerned about something or want a change/adjustment/whatever. If we just come in, check in, get out and get our meds, we have no real issue. I want to preface this by saying

Revlar Ellipta
Hi everyone! Just want to let you know I am now on my second Revlar inhaler and it is working brilliantly for me. I have had no side effects from it so far. I feel good. My peak flow has even improved a little which is just great. My walking has also improved and if I can gear myself to walk every day

Since I have been diagnosed with adult-onset, this is my first time traveling. What do you recommend bringing along (aside from my inhalers)
Nervous about my upcoming trip and want to make sure I am as prepared as possible! Are there any thing other than inhalers that one would recommend bringing on a trip? I was planning to bring my Peak Flow Meter as well. Any advice would be appreciated!

Asthma playing up and forgot to refill prescription (not emergency).
I've had a busy week this week, including an interview and an exam. I forgot to refill my Fostair prescription. It was after my Friday night dose that it dawned on me that I had 6 puffs left and I take four a day. I decided to split them down to one puff twice a day in hopes of stretching it. I was a

Just not fair :/
Asthma suddenly took a turn for the worst last night. Not sure *why* as I was doing so well. Nearest I can figure, our area is extremely dry and there has been a lot of wind around here lately. During Mom's visit (for a whole week!), we went to places near the ocean and/or with lots of green (both

Sudden onset of tight chest
Hi All, I've had asthma since birth and it's been manageable, the symptoms have also improved over the years (now 43yrs old) and I only needed to use my reliever every few days. A couple months ago my chest became tight almost overnight to the point where I need to use my reliever 4-8 times a day.

COPD query
Hello I am just wondering whether anyone could help me out. I have had asthma from a young age so my breathing has never been the best as it is. My nan had COPD and both my dad and grandad have Emphysema. My grandad is still alive and doing okay despite only having one and a half lungs. My dad passed
