Natural desiccated thyroid (NDT)

I asked my doctor about ndt and he gave me a prescription. I have lowered my dose of synthroid slowly to 50 mg and plan on adding in the ndt but I don't know what dose to start at. Any ideas from people that have had success with this would be appreciated.

As I seem no longer to be able to get any medication changes from the NHS I'm considering either switching to NDT (sourced privately) or adding in T3 (also sourced privately).

I'm on NDT. It's taken almost a year to get to this point, but last week I moved up to 2+3/4 Grains of NDT (Armour) from 2.5 grains after a blood test. TSH - 3.78 FT4 - 14.4 Range 12-22, (24%) FT3 - 4.7 Range 3.1-6.3, (50%) For the first time the increase has not caused me problems.

However, some patients report benefit from adjunctive liothyronine or natural desiccated thyroid (NDT).

I’m booked in to see a private GP hopefully to try NDT but want to check I still need it?? I’m very symptomatic.

Each time I have to go through the process of buying NDT I go through a series of emotions.1. Angry that in this day and age I have to buy meds from Thailand 2. That the NHS won't let us have the meds we need 3. The cost if these meds, how will I afford once I've retired 4.

May well need a NDT friendly doctor to help manage my thyroid hormone levels whilst I'm affected by the impact of Amiodarone.Was stable for years but this may change now. Please don't reply on forum but PM me if you know a knowledgeable one who work with ndt.

So before NDT, Anti-TG: 46 (lab range 0-115) Anti-TPO: 168 (lab range 0-34) 6 weeks into NDT, Anti-TG: 259!!

Hi Mid August My NDT was increased from 2.5 to 3 grains. By the last week in September I began to feel what I describe as a 'bit off' , these feelings come and go. My partner had covid , I tested negative a couple of times.

So I was put on Amiodarone post heart surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. I thought it was a three week course but it's not. Now on 200mg per day for the next few months . And yes I think it's messing my thyroid hormones up. I did protest over taking it...due to its high iodine content and contrary indications.

I’ve been on NDT for six months and in the last month my (usually thick) eyebrows are incredibly sparse.

I’m concerned as I’ve done well (most of the time) on NDT.

Hello, Can anyone tell me if they have taken out-of-date NDT? I have read that it may just be a little less effective but not harmful. Is this the case?

I’m been trying to get rid of them for many years. 6 months ago, I started taking NDT instead of Euthyrox and after three days the ectopics almost disappeared. But! Now they have returned after almost 6 months of being on 60mg of NDT.

Is it worth going private to get NDT? Thanks, as always.

When I was on Thai NDT I maintained my weight and felt loads better even though my blood results were not always what my GP felt was normal/satisfactory. Can someone please PM with a reliable Thai NDT (grains). Bless you. 🙏

Please can someone advise me of when to take my last NDT and vitamin supplements prior to this? I also take ashwaganda and DHNT, not sure if these will affect my levels? Thanks in advance.

I had to stop taking NDT when COVID halted the supply. If anyone has information on how to obtain it now, can you please PM me. Levothyroxine is dire. Thanks. Xx
