Graves Disease
Hi, I have type 2 diabetes, I was over-prescribed metformin which had its horrors. When I came off it I was quickly diagnosed with thyroxicosis and hypercalcemia. Saw the endocrinologist yesterday. |He sat there and said do you know what you have wrong with you, then he told me I had Graves disease

overactive thyroid but no Graves’ disease
Hi all, I’m so confused… I was Diagnosed as sub clinical hyperthyroidism December 2022 then in may 2023 hyperthyroidism. Negative for Graves’ disease. Started carbimazole in July 2023 on 20mg per day, gradually reduced down to 5mg every other day and then stopped in February 2024. Consultant said

Half a Thyroid better than none?
I have had Long Covid since March 2020. Investigations showed the right half of my Thyroid was enlarged. I was told all thyroid indicators were fine and that my disabling LC symptoms had nothing to do with my thyroid. Eventually, four years later the stars aligned for me to have an operation. That was

Armour Thyroid
I was taking Armour Thyroid from 2003 to 2016 when I was told I could no longer have it and was given Liothyronine but a much lower dose 5mcg x twice a day as opposed to 3 grains of Armour x once a day. Since then I have gained weight again, I sweat profusely, and falling asleep all the time.

She was sympathetic, and has referred my results to an endocrinologist for guidance. I wanted to get some thoughts on something she did say, bearing

enlarged thyroid
Hello, I’ve posted confusing information about my thyroid labs in the past but this post has to do with the size of my thyroid which is more definitive. I also have multiple thyroid nodules as well. My thyroid itself does not protrude out as one would expect with the size of each lobe. To make this

Serum selenium results
I just had my selenium results back today. 1.27 Umo/L ref ( 0.75-1.46) Was advised to get selenium tested as recent tpo antibodys were raised . Not sure now if I actually need selenium with this result ? GP advised selenium would help but I'm guessing depending on results which seem to be in range
