New to ADD meds but need to switch
Unfortunately, our insurance does not cover the generic Concerta 36mg
METHYLPHENIDATE
HYDROCHLORIDE so it costs $209 a month since we have a very high deductible.

Starting the frustration roller coaster ride
Anyone out there had good then bad results with
methylphenidate
and have any suggestions as to what we should try next. I do understand everyone reacts differently to all medications. Just looking for experiences.

Am I too dependent on medication?
I currently take the generic of Ritalin LA ( IC
Methylphenidate
ER LA), 30 mg, twice a day (once in the morning and once about 8 or 9 hours later). It became such a habit that I didn't question it much until my late teens/early 20s.

Methylphenidate SR (extended release Ritalin) How long until I know if it works?
(I insisted on all of the mental health testing before I sought out a psychiatrist) I tried 10mg
methylphenidate
IR 3x a day but it only made me sleepy and irritable. And left me feeling yucky the rest of the day.

Helpless and hopeless
I barely managed to complete my courses on the highest dose of
methylphenidate
possible, if I lost that I knew I would fail out of college in a week (from past experience), so no choice.

Helping a teen with ADHD with Organization in the classroom/backpack!!
He is on
methylphenidate
and also Intuniv. He was on the verge of failing last year and we managed to do it. We managed to end the year with all A’s, B’s, and one C. Which is a real miracle.

My Sinemet CR plus IR protocol
Also, 10 mg
methylphenidate
once per day. The CR + IR at 2,6,10 am and 2,6,10 pm. I am still in a rehab facility wherein pd meds and meals -served times are almost always in conflict. 7.45 am and 11.45 am are the most effective times for breakfast and lunch.

So dismayed and frustrated!
We try
methylphenidate
and Vyvanse and both did not work, they only made him sick with side effects. He is failing all his core classes and I've done so much to try to turn it around and we still haven't. The projects they give them have a multi-layered approach and he uses a Chromebook.

Daytrana patch
I think the more steady increase and decrease in medicine over a longer period of time (9 hours) will be a lot better than ups and downs of other forms of
methylphenidate
. He really cannot handle the medicine going up and down in bloodstream multiple times throughout the day.
