My doctor has prescribed Olaparib, and pills, and i’m shocked to learn that my copay under Medicare is > $2,240 for 120 pills. Are any of you taking this drug, recently approved for Non BRACA gene ovarian patients? If so, what is Your copay And under what insurance plan? Also , what is your experience

"Role of PARP Inhibitors Clarified in Prostate Cancer"
In a phase II study of olaparib (
Lynparza
), a PARP inhibitor, treating patients with metastatic CRPC and DNA repair defects, the drug was proven to lead to high response rates in this patient population.

Post second line chemo check up - positive news
I have to decide whether I want to have my original tumour tested for the BRCA gene (it's not in my blood) which costs A$1200 - if I am positive it opens up the option of oliaparib (
lynparza
) as a maintenance therapy.

Lynparza (olaparib), a PARP inhibitor, before CRPC.
The idea seems to be that PARP, a defect repair mechanism, is increasingly called upon during ADT, so there might be synergy between ADT & a PARP inhibitor such as
Lynparza
, well before CRPC emerges. More cell death up-front & a longer mean time to CRPC?

Interesting CA125 readings
I am on daily
Lynparza
8 pills Twice a day and Avastin every three weeks since December. My CA125 at the start of this protocol was 150 after a 3 or 4 month I was down to 50. Needless to say I was happy.

BRCA-2, etc, in CRPC.
Lynparza
(Olaparib) is a PARP inhibitor that has had some success in cases with BRCA1/2 & ATM repair gene defects From Steve Freedland: ... we conducted "prospective whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing of bone or soft tissue tumor biopsies from a cohort of 150 mCRPC affected individuals." "... aberrations

2016. The PSA never went over 10.5. I have been diagnosed with a BRCA2 mutation, which is the reason I started with

Starting Lynparza
I feel as if I am reaching the outer limits of "normal" treatment, but am excited to start it, as 80% of those on
Lynparza
achieve a complete remission. Has anyone else out there taken
Lynparza
, and if so, what side effects? Thanks.

Xtandi - Pfizer ... & some big numbers.
One such drug, AstraZeneca’s
Lynparza
, is already on the market and several more are in development. Tesaro recently announced positive data in ovarian cancer for its PARP inhibitor, raising the perceived value of other drugs of its type.
