Raised MMA result
Hi everyone Have written before about my low active B12 results(medichecks). Latest one had been 36.7 (37.5~188). My previous 3 were slowly dropping from 60s to 50s to 40s. Advised to do MMA by medichecks. Eventually afforded one last week which came back high 38.5 (<32). They are now suggesting

MMA result
Hi allJust got medichecks result which shows high lMMA level: 34.8ug/l (less than 32) Previous medichecks active B12 was 48.1 pmol/l (37.5-150) (they advised MMA
test
)
Intrinsic
factor
antibodies negative (mum had PA) Does high MMA result indicate a functional b12 deficiency as opposed to dietary deficiency

Zypan?
Hi everyone. Just wondering if anybody here is taking Zypan or have taken it before? Just watched a really helpful video from Dr Berg on YouTube on PA where he mentions this helps to absorb B12 if there is a lack of intrinsic factor

IFABs Borderline?
Hi I've recently had this result Intrinsic Factor Antibodies 1.33 AU/mL Range <1.2 Negative 1.2-1.53 Borderline >1.53 Positive how can this be? surely anything over 1.2 is positive or is my brain too feeble to understand🥴 any thoughts would be appreciated🙃

AUTOIMMUNE LIVER BLOODS
I am new to this community and have found some useful information here. I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency of 158 last August, had various tests plus B12 repeated on 17 January and this time my B12 came back at 147. My GP says it’s borderline but from what I’ve read hear it’s low, he did further bloods

Having twice weekly injections since my loading dose in mid December as I still have lots of neuro symptoms. Feeling generally better, but have woken up with migraines the last 4 mornings after they were really improving, and felt v sick this morning 🙄 Every day is an unknown! Had about 30/40 different

Thought about Intrinsic factor
Okay, so I've been thinking a lot about this, but if you no longer have intrinsic factor why would your body continue to make antibodies to intrinsic factor. I'm wondering about this as I keep getting tested by doctors for IF antibodies with no success, but I was told 15+ years ago when I was diagnosed

GP visit!
One thing I managed to get was a blood
test
for
intrinsic
factor
antibody. Will probably come back negative so she will put ‘within range, no action required’. Again.

Supplement Help Please
Hello, First time writing and being on the forum so I apologise if this question has asked before. I have been diagnosed with PA for just over a year and a half and have 3 monthly B12 injections. Around the second month after the B12 injection I get a massive drop off. I get a metallic taste in my mouth

What does it mean to have raised Homocysteine but normal MMA?
Hi After some wonderful support here and from my neurologist, I am now a week into eod B12 injections. The last time I posted I didn’t have my actual results. I do now: MMA: 0.21 umol/L (Ref < 0.43) Homocysteine 22 umol/L (Ref 0-20) Can anyone help me understand what it means to have raised homocysteine

INTRINSIC FACTOR ANTIBODY positive result
Does a positive INTRINSIC FACTOR ANTIBODY mean I have Pernicious Anemia? Does this mean I'm on B12 shots for life?

Full-text article from 1969
This article is beyond me. I am posting it because it seems relevant on the face; in addition, it is a 1969 article, and full text of articles from the 1960s and 1970s are rarely available, which would seem to suggest that this article is a special case. Therefore, some people on this forum might be

Yet another clueless G.P. - I despair!
So, I've been getting symptoms that I'm pretty sure are down to my thyroid being on the fritz. I was recommended a new G.P. at the practice who takes an interest in autoimmune problems. So I sit down, tell her that my hair is falling out, I'm gaining weight, tired, palpitations etc and that I have autoimmune

Latest results and my plan...
Hello I am symptomatic of low B12 and/or Hypothyroidism. GP isn't concerned and advised me to take B12 supplements, but will retest Thyroid in 6 months time. My plan is to raise B12, Ferretin, Foltate, and Vit D to the top 25% of range and then see how I feel and redo TFTs. I am happy to pay

Hypothesis II
My hypothesis is that the antibody that attacks the intrinsic factor and or parietal cell may also bind to B12 rendering it unusable at the cellular level. That the production of the antibody with regards to amount is unknown and different at different times for the individual and different for each

Newbie and confused. Functional B12 deficiency?
Anti nuclear antibodies
test
was negative.
Intrinsic
factor
antibodies
test
was negative. I am aware that false negatives are common. Whenever I have had to have a full blood count at the surgery, my MCV has always been just above the top of the range, as has my lymphocyte count.

Folic Acid does not cause PA
I saw this article with responses about the consumption of folic acid. What do people think about the responses? Especially the one who says that there shouldn't be a limit to the amount of folic acid taken. https://www.bmj.com/content/329/7479/1376/rapid-responses I have been taking 5mg folic acid
