Pegasys not working as well with Calr
At one of the recent webinars from the US, a haematologist mentioned that
interferon
doesn't work well with Calr mutation. Can anyone shed any light? Sadly that seems to be my experience, but I think my haematologist might not know about that research. Thanks Jo

Some good news...
Call from my haematology consultant, she is very pleased with my results, she is stopping my chemotherapy today, she said my JAK2 gene count is down to 2% and if the numbers etc remain the same she will stop my weekly injection of
interferon
, she said I was in remission, she doesn't understand how it's

Best time of day for meds??
Is there a best time of the day to take aspirin, HU or an
interferon
shot?? Just wondering if anyone has found a best time of the day for these, as to be most effective with our circadian body clock.

Update 6.0
One of my MPN pals referred to me as "the
Interferon
Poster Child." That is a title I will gladly accept. Dr. Braunstein did submit a script for Besremi now that it is approved in the USA. My Medicare Part D plan managed by Cigna denied the request.

Possible side effects of interferon?
I know
interferon
can cause muscle pain but I imagined something more like the type of aching you get with a flu. Has anyone experienced issues like the ones I describe above? I’m just not sure whether it’s a side effect of the meds or just independent issues.

What are your thoughts about Interferon Vs. Hydroxurea?
But I open it up to him he does suggest
interferon
his reason for not making it the first choice is because the
interferon
injection here in Singapore is expensive plus Hydrea have more supporting studies and more cheaper.

Phase 3, Trial of Interferon-α versus Hydroxyurea in Polycythemia Vera and Essential Thrombocythemia
PEG was more effective in normalizing counts and reducing JAK2V617F VAF in PV while HU induced more histopathologic responses in ET. https://ashpublications.org/blood/article/doi/10.1182/blood.2021012743/483404/A-Randomized-Phase-3-Trial-of-

INF vs HU, histological response (fibrosis, celluarity, etc) Surprise Result, and Possible Reasons
Many of us, including the authors of the study, were surprised, esp as some of us plan to switch to INF. https://healthunlocked.com/mpnvoice/posts/147415052/phase-3-trial-of-

Mithridate Trial
I took a chance, the chance being if randomised to stay on hydrea I was committing to 3 years and so wouldn't switch to
interferon
. I am very pleased to say I was lucky and got Rux and am now 1 month into the trial.

Jury summons.
I am on
interferon
every two weeks and usually get the flu aches 48 hours after each jab. I am actually due an injection on the start date. I know we don’t need to shield anymore, though I don’t feel very confident about mixing with the public at the moment.

Peg Interferon and flu jab
However, now I’m wondering whether it’s ok to get it with
Interferon
. The leaflet of
Interferon
states that live vaccinations should not be given with the medication and I believe the flu vaccine isn’t live? I haven’t had any tests prior to my appointment which is in 2 days.
