Afatanib side effects
Hi All My 71yo mother in law was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma stage 4. She was fit with very little symptoms. She has been taking Afatinib for 10 days now and is really struggling with side effects. She has diahorrea several times a day, acne rash on upper body particularly bad on her scalp

It's Official! Curing Patients Is Bad for Business! Milton Packer describes the end result of profit-dominated drug development
If you think market competition is the answer, the Washington Post referenced example of Gleevec/

sadly counters that: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/this-drug-is-defying-a-rare-form-of-leukemia--and-it-keeps-getting-pricier/2016/03/09/4fff8102-c571-11e5-a4aa-f25866ba0dc6_story.html

Hi guys. I'm Adam, I was diagnosed last April at the age of 37 with Stage 4 Lung Cancer which had spread to my spine. It was caught on an X-ray of my throat completely unrelated to the cancer. As a lifetime non-smoker it was a complete shock (and still is). Turns out it was due to DNA mutation). Ive

Questions on imatinib
I have been on
Imatinib
since January and am responding very well apart from a few side effects. Swollen eyes, lower legs and night sweats. I got over nausea and acute tiredness quickly.

Imatinib the drug
Imatinib
prescribed by medical oncologists. Rs300 a pill gives the doc prescribes a fat discount. "Dr will advise from where to buy". For lieomyama post surgical treatment for three years. The reason is the problem might repeat itself. Besides being expensive, the side effects are deadly.

About Nilotinib
"As structural mutations and/or gene amplification in Bcr-Abl can circumvent an otherwise potent anticancer drug such as
imatinib
, targeting Bcr-Abl expression as well as its kinase activity could be a novel additional therapeutic approach for the treatment of Bcr-Abl(+) myeloid leukemia."
