I was on Imatinib for 3 years. It worked well at first but I developed a mutation and my numbers started to edge up every three months. So I got in with a CML specialist at UC Irvine and am now on Tasigna. Last two tests have been “undetectable.” So glad there are these support groups around.

Other patients took the gamble to try rux and imatinib and lost their gamble so I feel I owe my opportunity to them. Pure research.

I have benefited from the development of both imatinib and ruxolitinib so fell I have a duty to pay back to those patients willing and brave enough to go through trials to develop those drugs.

Ive been on imatinib 400mg since diagnosis and the main side effect being chronic fatigue. Just recently the fatigue has gotten worse and the consultant said its nothing to do the meds or illness.
