Questions about using hydrocortisone instead of cortex?

Hi everyone, *post for a friend*

does anyone with confirmed low cortisol on a 4 point saliva test currently use HC? Beginning to wonder if cortex might not be enough as I am having a lot of intolerance symptoms persisting after armour dose increases.. (vitamin deficiencies all ruled out/optimised)

if anyone has tried cortex before going on to HC, did you find it helped with intolerance/low cortisol symptoms and dose increases? Was it better than cortex? Did it help to clear up any mental health symptoms as a result?

I am also struggling with nausea and stomach upset using the cortex so I have found it harder to be consistent with them.

HydroCortisone is not something to self-treat with. If taken incorrectly it can cause the adrenals to shut down definitively.

Thank you for the concern Greygoose. Luckily my friend has a doctor who is willing to try it if the symptoms do not resolve but obviously is hesitant to jump straight into without weighing up options. In Barry P’s book he talks about a low dose under 20mg being safe to take without shutting down the adrenals, do you think this is correct?

As long as this is only taken in the morning, and never after 1 pm, yes. But, just how low is your friend's cortisol?
