Artemisinin: Capable of Reversing Type 1 Diabetes?
According to study leader Stefan Kubicek, the drug “change[s] the epigenetic program of
glucagon
-producing alpha cells and induce profound alterations of their biochemical function.”

Type 1 Diabetes: Molecule Identified to Regenerate Insulin-Producing Cells
Previously, only a genetic modification of cells that resemble the beta cells, called
glucagon
-secreting alpha cells, was able to increase the number of insulin-producing cells. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system.

Hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes
Use
:
Glucagon
is basically a hormone, which stimulates the liver to release pre-stored glucose all over your bloodstream in case your blood-sugar level falls down steadily.
Glucagon
is usually injected, and kits are available.

Five-a-side football and the "diabetic effect".
Love to play 5-a-side football, but have been dogged all my life with the hyperglycaemic effect - the reaction of
glucagon
in the system once games begin. The energy draining rapidly from the legs and the system. Anybody with any concrete advice? Hoping to get another year or two out of the ball.

Levothyroxine heighten growth hormone enough to pass a pituitary stimulation tests?
My question os would this temporarily highten my growth hormone results in a
glucagon
test so I scrape through their nice guidelines, so they don't have to treat me? I feel really let down! Thank you in advance for any help received. Best regards Paul

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)
Defatted fractions of fenugreek seeds, high in fiber content and containing steroid saponins, lowered blood glucose and plasma

What is more important....FBS or PPBS
Although it is said if you exhaust
Glucagon
and glycogen then liver may not have sufficient sugar for release....still liver will convert sugar from other sources and keep sugar level up. So FBS is right marker to check???

A study material in respect of LCHF
Lactate, which increases during starvation, can induce hepatic ketogenesis.2 Low-carbohydrate, fat-rich meals can enhance alpha-cell secretion of
glucagon
and lower insulin concentrations.3,4 Plasma fatty acid concentrations can be twice as high during low-carbohydrate diets as compared with the usual

Diabetes Drug Appears to Clear NASH in Some Cases
About 39 percent of those who received Victoza, which is a
glucagon
-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) analog, saw their NASH eliminated according to a biopsy, compared with just 9 percent of those who received the placebo.

Blood sugar control in healthy normal persons and in diabetic persons. Even with insulin medication, why ppbs remains high.
In Diabetic persons ------------------------------ In fasting state plasma glucose is derived from glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis under the influence of
glucagon

Uncontrolled Sugar Levels even with insulin regimen
I did some research and found that
glucagon
plays an important role, which might be dumping glucose into bloodstream whenever my sugar level goes below certain level. I thought it was only Dawn effect or Symogi effect in the early morning, but it seems to be occurring even during the day.

I am diagnosed with hypothyroid and fibromyalgia. Also been told I have empty sella pituitary. Where can I get glucagon stimulation test?
I have asked my GP but he pretty much ignored me. I have heard it is available privately but I can't find it. Does anyone know?

New drug for NIDDM
The FDA described Tanzeum (albiglutide) as a "
glucagon
-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist -- a hormone that helps normalize patients' blood sugar. Tanzeum "can be used alone or added to existing treatment regimens to control blood sugar levels in the overall management of diabetes per FDA.

Why fasting blood glucose level remains elevated even when it is within normal limits through out the day?
variations. These changes in hormonal level occurs both in diabetics and non diabetics.Soon after onset of sleep, there is surge of growth hormone, cortisol shows significant increase between 2am and 4am and reaches its peak value shortly after we wake up.Catcholamines gradually increase over night while

Why thyroid patients on thyroxine might find it harder to lose weight
Was doing a bit of reading on
glucagon
and came across some info that high levels of
glucagon
cause T3 levels to drop and RT3 levels to rise. And it does this by affecting the liver and preventing the conversion of T4 to the active hormone T3 (not by affecting secretion by the thyroid).

GIP and GLP –1 (Gastric Inhibitory polypeptide,

What You Should Know About Diabetes
A second hormone manufactured by the pancreas is called
glucagon
. It has the opposite function of stimulating the liver to release glucose when necessary. Symptoms of diabetes The main symptoms of diabetes are three – polydipsia, polyphagia and polyuria.
