To puff or not to puff, that is the question!!
My son finished a course of Pred 10 days ago and has now developed a cold that has put him on another 3 day course. After talking to the doctor, I was told that he should only take the Ventolin every 4 hours. The trouble is that he coughs so much that he gasps for air. This means that he has been

Help - I am struggling with this thing called 'Asthma'
Last year November ('09), I had the flu jab at work. A week later I had the flu which lasted about 7 weeks after 3 courses of antibiotics. January '10 I returned back to the gym, but was always out of breath with this funny crackling sound on my chest. I went back to the Dr in February '10. He diagnosed

Peak Flow Diary
Asthma Review yesterday. Peak flow surprised asthma nurse - not as good as had hoped after 6 months of Clenyl Modulite. Put me on Seretide. One puff, twice a day. Salbutamol up to 4 times a day. Peak flow thingy too for readings. What is a good reading cos yesterday had 190. Last night - 290. This

Peak flow readings
What is a peak flow reading? Do you have to have a more severe form of asthma to need this? Mine asthma fortunately seems to be quite mild compared to most of the folk on this forum. I feel a bit of a fraud on here.

Seretide
Put on seretide for two week trial as peak flow readings low on Clenil modulite. The peak flow graph is going up and down like a yo-yo in just 10 days. Can go from 300 down to 150 in one day. Only constant was one and a half days at 240. I've only actually needed Ventolin for breathlessness on one

Newly diagnosed asthmatic
I am a fairly new kid on the block where asthma is concerned. I was ill away on a business trip and had to be rescued off the motorway by family 150 miles from home. About 2 weeks later started getting breathless for no reason just walking around the house (we have a bungalow) so no stairs involved

Uncontrolled, Steroid Resistant Asthma
I am 51 and have mild Asthma since I was 2. It has always responded to Ventolin and previously-available reliever medications. Notably, my Asthma is 95% related to anxiety, and often goes into remission for 7 or more years at a time. This year, I developed bronchitis, during the summer, and this has

Coming off prednisolone??? (long)
My asthma has been a lot worse lately. It hasn't been bad enough to go to hospital (last time was June & July last yr d/t a cold and then the flu). So 3 weeks ago I had to put myself on prednisolone - trigger was/is heartburn - at least I presume so, my asthma gets worse when my heartburn increases.

Where can I get information on PEV and FEV1
I am trying to work out if I have asthma or an allergy. To prove this I have purchased one of the mini peak flow meters (Piko-1) and will monitor my peak flow and my FEV1. I would like to get some more information on what these readings are and there must be a reference chart saying what are the ranges

what should my peak flow be?
ive blown 500/510 once, tends to be around 420/430. is it the highest your personal best is meant to be or is it your ""average"" reading? sorry to ask..

Being referred to a Consultant - what should I expect?
Hi I've got moderate asthma, currently taking symbicort and accolate. My asthma gets worse over the summer months and once this summer and twice last summer, I was put on a course of steroids when my asthma flared up. I'm a lot better once the Autumn comes along, although I still get a bit of exercise

Blood Test and Doctors Appointments
I have painful arms and I am buising a lot more than I have ever done before. So I went to see the doctor on the 22nd July and he recommended that I had a blood test, so on the 29th July I had a full blood test to check my bloods were all ok. My bloods came back as normal. I have been having to use

New to all this
Hello, I've been a mild asthmatic for most of my adult life, nebulised once about five years ago when I lived with a heavy smoker (I don't live with him anymore). I'm a keen runner and I noticed once it got warm I was struggling with my breathing, went to my doctor and was given becotide. Three weeks
