Recording Medication Use...
Hi everyone, Does anyone try to record their use of inhalers (or other medication)? I've seen logs on asthma plans for recording peak flow but never anything about recording when you're taking inhalers... It seems like it would be useful to know how often you need to use a reliever inhaler for example

Testosterone and lung function?
I rarely speak about my gender on here, so many of you may be unaware that I had to come out as trans earlier on in the year ('had to' to avoid further years of pain). Quick rundown on transness; feel free to skip if you get it already! All this means is that while my body may look female, and maybe

Night cough
Hello Please could someone tell me if they have a productive (clear mucus) cough at night? (As I've only read that an asthma cough is dry) I cough and wheeze every night for a few hours and cough up lots of clear, watery mucus, I am in the process of working out why, I've looked into postnasal drip,

Worst things people have said/what not to say to someone with a lung condition
1. "look, you're not breathing right…iiiiiin….ouuuuut…." I know I'm not breathing right, I'm having an attack! I can't breathe! 2. "take DEEP breaths!" Again, can't breathe, so... 3. "you're just panicking!" Yep, and that's why my lungs are silent, right? 4. "oh I get a cough sometimes too" Oh poor

Customary Update!
I had 1 week GP appointment today. So basically: - we will start tapering off the prednisolone (decrease by 5mg every 3 days) - no other changes to meds yet (no Spiriva, no different eczema cream) until we have established where I'm at with pred (in other words, not until I'm either off it completely

Colds and asthma
My husband is a severe asthmatic and has 5 weekly injected steroids. He has a very good respiratory consultant who is trying to reduce his steroid injection from 80 to 60. Every time we try this his peak flow suffers and he usually needs to top up with oral steroids mid cycle. Does anyone else have

Posting for my Dad - Symbicort 200 Turbo Vs Fostair
My Dad was diagnosed with Asthma in 2013; he was 55. After a bad chest infection, they trialled him on Clenil and Ventolin and these were not effective. He ended up having an Out of Hours appointment and the GP put him on Symbicourt, no ventolin. He was told if he had an asthma attack, he was to call

You know you're an asthmatic when...
1. you have used inhalers as toy guns before. 2. people who smoke make you want to shout at kittens. 3. there is no such thing as 'just a cold'. 4. realising you've left your reliever at home is almost worse than realising you've left your phone. 5. you just keep collecting pyjamas. 6. you have

Quick Question
Hello! I have a quick question for the people on here as I'm genuinely not sure of the answer. I've been feeling my asthma getting worse since Friday due to a cold (my main trigger now). I went to the GP yesterday and my gut feeling was that I needed for steroid tablets. My peak flow wasn't down too

Back on Seretide :D
Hi all :) I guess it's the little things, sometimes. I was hospitalised just over a week ago with a life-threatening asthma attack after 4 weeks of being on Fostair 100/6 and not having proper control. I should only have been taking a maximum of 2 puffs twice a day but I had to increase it to 3 puffs

For you asthmatics, or anyone who is interested!
I have a blog about my life with Atopy (asthma, allergies, eczema) which I set up for fun but also for communicating with friends and family if I'm in hospital or otherwise ill. The link is below, and under the link is a bit about my blog (I'm so sorry, I try to be concise, I just can't seem to manage

Taking prednisolone
I have had two lots of this steriod after my asthma attack. What side effects have people notice when taking this? This drug has really mess up my sleep and I haven't had a good nights sleep for a week. The other side effect I have experience is that it has sent my blood sugar very high. I only found

Help with figures
Hi everyone, could someone please throw some light on the undermentioned figures. My understanding is that my lungs are effectively about 80 years old? Initial diagnosis copd, then changed to asthma.... very strange? Predicted peak flow: 401 1/min Recorded/predicated PEFR ratio: 95% Expected FVC

Confused about action plan
I've recently been given an asthma action plan, which when the gp gave it to me, made sense, but now I'm unsure. So it says: if use reliever more than 4 times a week, symptoms return or peak flow goes below 450 (best 570), to increase seretide to 4 puffs twice a day and ventolin up to 2 puffs every 4
