Firmagon

My RO is fine giving me one month shots of Lupron or Firmagon.   He thinks they will have minimal effect on recovery.  I could probably pay for the pills, but six grand is six grand.  The Firmagon is an antagonist and the same mode of action as Orgovyx.   That makes me lean toward it as a shot.   

I'm very happy it's going in right direction again but was hoping that by now, after past year + on Firmagon, and then Orgovyx and Xtandi it would have broken the undetectable zone... So I went to oncologist today and I asked for a psma pet scan but he said not needed.

Started Firmagon. Psa 1.42. Started 6 sessions docetaxel psa 8 continued with Cabazitaxel 4 sessions psa 150. Started xtandi 3 months later psa 330. Cancer has been spreading since April 2022 when psa was 1.42. Had operation to spine due to fracture. On copious amounts of morphine for pain.

• Went on Firmagon + Erleada, then Lupron + Erleada and finally switched to Orgovyx + Erleada at my request. This worked for almost 15 months and then I became ADT resistant. • Late 2021, pelvic areas were treated with very high dose SBRT based on results of the SABR-COMET trial.

His statements were: 1) wait and watch to see if it spreads anywhere else. 2) Start Firmagon ADT again. 3) Start Firmagon ADT and do 25 radiation treatments of that area of my body. 4) Do focused radiation of the area where the lymph nodes are. He had reasons for all 4.

Father started Firmagon Injections on Nov 10th and radiation Dec 12th (yesterday). 1. Urologist started him on firmagon on Nov 10th to prevent spread while awaiting further treatment. It seems to have worked.. CT Scan update today was that no far spread.

Started Firmagon monthly injections immediately, he’s still on them. Psa dropped to 1.42, at which point docetaxel was started. 6 sessions later psa 8. Continued with 4 sessions of cabataxel, psa went to 150. Changed oncologist.

When I looked it up on google, it stated it was for palliative treatment when Eligard and Firmagon fail. The Eligard seems to be working just fine. This confuses me because my PSA is still <0.01 as of September 2022. No Pain nor any known changes.

Started Firmagon injections. psa May 2022 1.42 started docetaxel in May too. After 6 cycles psa 8, moved directly onto Cabazitaxel, after 3 cycles psa 150. Started xtandi after 1 month psa down from 150 to 115, after second month, now, psa 210. Hubby comes out of hospital today after 9 weeks.

He has this pain initially before radiation treatment .. once he got the first firmagon shot. So this is possibly a result of hormones ? 3. He’s having tingles in his arms and legs ? He says he feels so week even for walking although he’s been going up and down stairs , shovelling snow etc .. 4.

I've saw a few post and some discussion about this, but my Oncologist suggested a low dose of Ritalin to ward off some of the fatigue and brain fog I was having from Firmagon and Zytiga. I had been reluctant to take "another pill" that comes with more side effects...so I said not for me.

I started Firmagon about a year ago with great results for 5 months and then added Xtandi....Side effects from both were minimal due to weight training in gym 3x a week and aerobic running off days.

Currently on Firmagon, Zytiga with Prednisone, Vit D, Metformin Will be starting Otelza for very severe made worse by ADT plaque psoriasis From what I heard there are some clinical trials and cancer centers/hospitals conducting surgery, radical prostatectomy for men with advanced metastatic prostate

Are there any studies noted what treatments cause more muscle loss than others… Which is worse for muscle loss Firmagon or Zytiga?

Now that my father is on firmagon, if they don’t do the new CT scan and bone scan until 3 weeks from now is that okay? Assuming firmagon will prevent cancer spreading any further meaning the 3 week wait is nothing to be concerned about ? 3. If they decide he is not curable.

After that Chemo is a possibility Is this a good approach as he is already on Firmagon which he will continue to be on.

My PSA went down for a while, but it came roaring back in 2019, at which time I received six sessions of docetaxel chemo followed up by monthly or quarterly shots of Eligard and then Firmagon, later being switched to once-daily Orgovyx.

Im concerned that the Firmagon failed after just 4 months and now I'm seeing xtandi seemingly stalling and I'm taking steps to plan out my next move.
