In remission after FCR treatment for CLL 7yrs ago. Should I be shielding because of Covid? I did not have a letter from my GP. I am 63yrs.
Now in a household with 2 frontline health workers.

Final treatment free day
I have one last day before starting
FCR
. The to do list includes a coastal bike ride, a conquer of a hill and the making of a large Sherry trifle plus a full English.* How did you spend that last ‘normal’ day? *Plans subject to change 😊😊(slight 😥 eek)

Schematic for CLL treatment?
(am not talking the nhs system who seem to just offer you
fcr
to start with as a default regardless as far as I can make out - more like a doc who had all options open). Thanks very much.

I’ll avoid
FCR
at all. Dangerous and tricky. Increase the probability of AL occurrence as well as second neoplasm and Richter transformation in the long run. You have to be "fit patient” to receive
FCR
, IGHV mutated and without tp53 mutation or 17p deletion.

Show I aim to try to walk with this condition
Medics say it’s very rear and I take ibrutinib orally plus the R from
FCR
in IV form and the triple chemo dose in the lumber region. The prognosis I have is quite stark and it’s not more than a year! I’m aged 64 Today is the first day I feel okay but am still dizzy and walk slowly.

Returning to work
I finished treatment for CLL in 2016 [
FCR
]. My health has been remarkably good considering [apart from sepsis after the first treatment]. I returned to work after treatment and I've been lucky [so far!] My last blood count in July '20 was satisfactory.

Change away from FCR
https://www.onclive.com/view/dr-ghia-on-the-shift-from-chemotherapy-to-novel-agents-in-cll&ct. I guess this is the general and hopefully costs will come down so more of the world can benefit

If and when these patients need treatment they should have a targeted therapy or look for a clinical trial of novel agents, rather than have chemo-immunotherapy such as
FCR
, BR or Chlorambucil. https://ashpublications.org/blood/article/121/23/4627/31480/SF3B1-mutations-in-chronic-lymphocytic-leukemia

Help! Shaking is driving me 😜
I have had Parkinson’s for about 20 years. Originally was given Sinemet cr. After that didn’t work anymore I was given Sinemet IR. Even though it happened at times, recently about ten minutes after I take the Sinemet I shake uncontrollably for about forty five minutes. When I finally quit shaking, I

Ibrutinib V Venetoclax + Rituximab
I had
FCR
treatment for CLL about 6 years ago but a number of lymph nodes now getting lumpy. I am being offered either Ibrutinib or Venetoclax +Rituximab. My consultant favours the the latter (V+R) and I will probably go with his recommendation.

CLL treatment prognosis
Hi all, I was told at my consult this week that because of the way my CLL was - the word immature was used - that I would not be one of the lucky people who have the
FCR
course of treatment and then nothing again for years. I’m about to start on the Flair programme next month.

Lumps under armpits
I was diagnosed 2006 and had
fcr
3 years ago. Lymphocytes are just under 200 but generally blood counts are remains stable. I don't have classic b symptoms. I have managed to get a physical appointment at RM Sutton. I haven't in the past had such swellings apart from smaller swellings in my neck.

Report from CLL Webinar: Prof Hillmen, 10th June 2020
They are getting close to the first results, though covid-19 might postpone it slightly, The trial compares new therapies e.g. ibrutinib vs
FCR
therapy. The problem is that brutunib not only stops cells growing but also switches off things not related to CLL, hence the side effects.

The patients were compared with those receiving
FCR
. (Although this is too late for my husband, it is gratifying to know that research continues.) Stay well and keep hopeful all!
