Diagnosed only this year with ADHD. I am 53 yrs old. Also living with PTSD/bipolar. Psychiatrist felt it would be a good fit given I am prone to overeating. (That's a boredom thing I have found out) Gently dosed up from 20 mg and now I am going tp get 50mg. I guess its working, I just find it a very

Teenage son with ADD
Hi. My son’s Dad was diagnosed ADD as a child & his symptoms were probably a direct result of not being able to function in a loving & honest marriage. I’ve always known my son has it too since he was a baby. Yes, a baby. He screamed & cried all the time & became happier when he could talk. Did not sleep

A poem from a teenager about the struggles of their ADD
I am NOT a parent. I am an 18 year old college student who was diagnosed with ADD in fourth grade, since then I have taken 5 different medications (in groupings of about four years for three of those medications and the other two as afternoon boosters for the first two four year periods) and am currently

ADHD and Depression
Our 8 year old son was diagnosed earlier this year and started meds a couple of months ago. We started with Vyvanse but the rebound meltdowns when the meds wore off were disastrous so we then switched to 30mg of ritallin. After the first day it seemed like a miracle drug. We had our happy fun loving

Stims combination.
Hey. I'm on vyvanse, but it wears off after 5-6 hours. Given that I have 10 hours shift my doctor wants to give me a booster but he wasn't sure which one. He said that strattera might be a good option. Has anybody tried strattera as a booster with vyvanse?

psychiatrist dealing with ADHD
I am hoping to find a psychiatrist to help my 19 year old daughter with Inattentive ADHD. Vyvanse seemed to be working (and still is) but am wondering if it's increasing her anxiety. It's complicated and I have decided that maybe a psychiatrist can help. She was evaluated by a phychologist and learning

Lost and Scared
I’m 28 year old mom living with ADD/ADHD/Anxiety. I was diagnosed as a child and recently as an adult. I started taking medicine to help with symptoms but haven’t found the right one yet. I’ve tried concerta, retlin and Vyvanse recently. Concerta was helpful in my childhood but I believe I caused depression

Jobs that suit inattentive type
Greetings, New to this site and happy I found all of you. I suffer with the Inattentive type. I’m currently on Concerta and trying supplements such as flaxseed and tyrosine. Adderall and Vyvanse had to many side affects such as anxiety and aggression. I’m in my mid fifties now struggling with menopause

Acceptable side effects
We are in the process of finding the right medication and dosage for my 9 year old daughter. We first tried Adderall - she seems to have had some gains at school but she lost weight (she is already tiny) and said that it made her feel sick. With dosages over 5mg she became a zombie. We moved to Vyvanse

Guanfacine
My 14 year old hates his Vyvanse. He started off well with it, but lately he says that it makes him grumpy and sad, not to mention that he has no appetite (and he's very thin). I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Guanfacine (I think it's the generic for Intuitiv). It's a non-stimulant

Methylphenidate SR (extended release Ritalin) How long until I know if it works?
I was diagnosed back in June. I started off by taking Vyvanse and worked all the way up to 70mg, I liked it. I never experienced euphoria on it. No bad side effects. However, I only got about 5ish hours out of it. I asked my doc about dexamphetamine (I phrased it vyvanse without the lysine) but I was

Post vyvanse meltdowns
Our almost 8 year old son has been on vyvanse for approx 3 weeks now. Seems to be doing well and more focused during school and exceptly for the stomach pains and lack of eating the medication seems to be working. EXCEPT that around 8 PM the last week or so he's been having extreme meltdowns worse than

How do you find your search and the trial and error for the right meds? Figuring the right type of medications and then the right brand 1) Methylphenidate (MPH) - Focalin, Focalin XR; Concerta; Daytrana; Metadate CD 2) Amphetamines (AMP) - Adderall XR; Vyvanse 3) Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor

New here... Senior in high school | Vyvanse causing depression after 8 years
My son has been on Vyvanse (very low dose) for the past 8 years with little issues. He had a serious meltdown today. He is depressed, says the meds, while the help, make him feel "high" and he hates it. It also makes him angry and hopeless where it hasn't before. My son isn't on any other drugs,

Back home
Hello everyone! I returned home today from an 8 day stay at the hospital. I am glad I voluntarily went. I received a new diagnosis: bipolar 2. The doctor started me on lamictal, doubled my antidepressant and took me off of Vyvanse. Looking back, I think I had been in a hypo-manic state since my last

Happiness + Vision = Success. But happiness must come now.
I found the following quote from John D. Rockefeller: I was early taught to work as well as play, My life has been one long, happy holiday; Full of work and full of play- I dropped the worry on the way- And God was good to me every day. Just about every one of the most successful people I know seemed

Who does med breaks?
Hi! Our new pediatric psychiatrist wants us to take our son (12) off of his vyvanse on the weekends. I’m not opposed to it, but is anyone else taking med breaks too? He says he doesn’t like out of control his ADD is when he is off his meds. I’ll have him talk to his dr. At his next session, but looking
