Prostatectomy, staged, T2a N0M0, Gleason 8 (4+4), Age 55 2006 PSA .4, 7 weeks external beam radiation of the prostate bed plus Casodex and Lupron 2008 PSA 1.0, to 2011 Intermittent (9 months on, 9 Months off) Lupron Androgen Deprivation Therapy 2011 PSA 3.5, to date Continuous (injections every 6 months) Eligard

Saw an oncologist the other day and he is adding casodex in addition to the Eligard I've been on since 12/16. I am having a new bone scan and CT scan at the end of this month.

I am now on Eligard. After 3 mos. the PSA was 8.4 and the testosterone was 14. I have no bone pain and my only side effect is hot flashes. I will be seeing an oncologist this week to get established. By the way, I'm 74 years old.

Been getting eligard every 3 months.... Last psa was .6 ! Still struggle with Missing my hard on & dry climax... Still,, I'm alive.

PSA at DX was 7.3, started 50mg Casodex immediately & then Eligard shots. Dec 2016 PSA was 1.16, 30 days later dropped to .97, then to .77, today reading was .74. I have also had 45 IMRT treatments and was expecting better results. Radiation finished in march of 17.

I start radiation in 2 days and I am scheduled for another Eligard injection in about a month. Has anyone stopped these injections. The side effects, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings are driving me crazy.

My Update, Dx stage 4 ,g8 & 9 last Oct PSA 7.3 On Casodex & Eligard , 45 radiations. PSA now .77 still have mild hydronephrosis in right kidney. No surgery or bone mets. Maximum fatigue & lethargy.

Began Hopkins Clinical Trial Jan 2015 using 3-month Eligard & daily 50mg Casodex. PSA undetectable since then & the bladder wall swelling has "resolved." Side effects, sure, but as we like to say "I can live with them."

Started Eligard 22.5 with Bicalutamide PSA dropped to .3 but no ts up to 6.8 as of 2/17/17. Docs are recommending xtandi or zytiga. need to know which works better first to avoid resistance to the next one. Dr also said Provenge is something to consider and this is the time to do it.

On casodex, Eligard and have undergone 45 rad treatments (IBRT). PSA started at 7.39 now at .97. I have been reading this blog for 2 months and am surprised that no one has mentioned IP-6.

Drugs of this type include: •Buserelin (Suprefact) •Degarelix (Firmagon) •Goserelin (Zoladex) •Histrelin (Vantas) •Leuprolide (Eligard, Lupron Depot) •Triptorelin (Trelstar) You'll get these drugs by injection every month, 3 months, or 6 months. Doctors implant others under your skin.

Had 39 radiation after Eligard ADT quit working. Now on Firmagon, seems that isn't working now either. Appointment with Oncologist tomorrow and probably will do Provenge treatment along with either Zytiga or Xtandi.

The October Eligard shot and lowered PSA to 69 and going down. The Oncologist said I need chemical castration hormones from now on. It is life changing to say the least. He said I would last 3-10 years. Has anyone discussed Orchidectomy as Eligard shots are expensive?

I had my first injection of Eligard on August 19, 2016 and the bump is still there! Does anyone know when this bump will go away? The nurse told me in 10 days. She was wrong! The cost of being teated is rediculous!! This medication is very high! And I have insurance!

The eligard shot wore off this sept. He has gotten weaker and weaker all summer. Now he's in a hospital bed and has fallen twice and now is bedridden and is so weak he can't even move as of just today I'm so sick over this.

I just got my first eligard injection on August 19 and I still have small bump under skin. I would like to know how long it takes for this bump to go away. And I also notice that I am more tired than when I was on lupron!

I had my first eligard shot a couple of hours ago. I'm glad my wife was driving. I thought I was going to be sick. I felt nausea, and broke out in a sweat. I'm home now and feeling better but still unsteady on my feet and I feel a little dizzy just using the computer. I am 66.

My oncologist changed my hormonal therapy drug from lupron to eligard due to vendor change at Smilow Cancer Trumbull. I had my first shot on August 19th without any problems! When I first saw the Oncologist he told me that my PSA was <.1ng/ml! And all my other blood tests were very good too!

I have been receiving Eligard injections for appox 9 months....good for PSA ...not so good for healthy sexual activity.
