NHS consulting on curbing Amiodarone and Dronedarone prescriptions
Very surprised to see this on BBC news today. Though the potential side effects of Amiodarone are bad it's still the most effective anti-arrhythmic drug as far as I know. Maybe this consultation is also taking side effects into account (I couldn't find out further since Googling didn't pull up the actual

Dronedarone
Suggests I try
Dronedarone
but wants GP to monitor my TSH and my liver function. I have virtually decided to go into permanent AF which hopefully will stop them looking too closely at my TSH which is usually about 0.05. I can see the monitoring is a condition of taking the drug but why TSH?

Is anybody here on
Dronedarone
? As the Flecainide is making the Afib worse, this is the EP’s next drug of choice. Or he suggests letting myself get into permanent AF and living with it as although the episodes are frequent they are not debilitating. Di

Dronedarone
Currently I don't take any rhythm control medications but as my episodes of AF have increased to three or four times a week , he has suggested
dronedarone
. I said that I would do some research and get back to him. So..does anyone take this and do you find it effective.

AFIB after Catheter Ablation
Stopped taking
Dronedarone
and Digoxin 62.5mg, continued with Statins and Rivaroxaban. Friday and Saturday suffered bouts of afib - indicated by my Kardia and overnight Fitbit sleep analysis. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday sinus rhythm and feeling confident.

Flecainide v Dronedarone
Dr wonders if I would be better long term on
Dronedarone
rather than Flecainide. I see one of the side effects is rapid weight gain! Think I’ll pass unless this drug really is a wonder cure. Anybody tried it? Di

AF attack happening now
I take
Dronedarone
and Bisoprolol. I haven't yet been given a date for the ablation and I'm afraid it will be delayed by this latest attack. Can anyone advise me please? Thank you.

Dronedarone/Multaq
My worry is that I’ve read that
dronedarone
should only be prescribed to patients in snr in order to prevent afib. Can anyone advise me please. Thanks so much.

2nd Ablation update
I had my 2 nd ablation for AF yesterday, ( still on
dronedarone
) down for 4 hours under a general, all went well so lovely to be back in rhythm even though I feel exhausted and a bit battered bruised, also very thankful the snow held off from Dorset today so I managed to get back home to Weymouth from

Hope after ablation
Was then put on
dronedarone
but because of one particular side effect it was agreed for me to stop taking them even though I knew I could potentially slip back into af. Well done last August I have only spent 3 nights in hospital with my af and only knew I was in af by an ecg reading.

Back in AF after second cardioversion 🙄 dronedarone didn't work. Yet I feel better in AF??
I was put on
dronedarone
400mg along with my usual bisoprolol 5mg and rivaroxaban 20mg. I was told to continue with the
dronedarone
until my follow up appointment although I read you shouldn't take the stuff when in AF?

More tests
One thing I noticed was that just as the first cardiologist agreed that
dronedarone
had been discredited, the second one thought it was ok. Meanwhile my breathing is not especially good in this humidity, and my depression has returned full blast, so back to the increased dose of anti-depressant.

Ablation in the morning !!
I started
dronedarone
on Saturday , no major side effects, haven't slept as well but could be the procedure in my sub conscious , I've had a couple of strange pulling sensations in my heart , but that was the same when I first started Amiodarone. 50/50 chance of success so fingers crossed 🤞.
