Dronedarone

Is anybody here on Dronedarone? As the Flecainide is making the Afib worse, this is the EP’s next drug of choice.

Or he suggests letting myself get into permanent AF and living with it as although the episodes are frequent they are not debilitating.

Hello fellow traveller, I would listen to your EP. I know many who have "progressed" to permanent AF and have found it easier than they expected it to adapt to. Provided medication can keep heart rate within acceptable levels, it is my understanding that it will not adversely effect the long term function of the heart, but I am not medically trained so it's something you should discuss with your doctor. Hope all goes well....

Many thanks. I don’t take a beta-blocker as my rate in Afib never usually goes above 80 so hoping I can make the change ok. He says I might feel rough to start with but we’ll see.

I was put on Dronedrone when my Flecanide/Bisoprolol combination failed.

I had regular Liver Function tests, and on the whole it kept it reasonably stable through 2014.

Thank you, that’s encouraging. Not sure how it will sit with Pradaxa.

Hi,

I went into persistent AF and my ep put me on this medication but unfortunately it didn't work for me ,but flecainide did within 1 hr of taking it .

I tried Flecainide as a PIP then 50 x2 then 100x2 and AF just got stronger and stronger. On nothing at moment for rhythm and doing ok. Can forget I’m having an episode. According to Apple Watch I’ve slept through two so far this week xx

Hello again Di, I assume you saw yesterday’s post from Steve112 with Dr Gupta’s video on much the same subject.

John

Will look for it now.

Thanks

Almost worth forgetting the Dronedarone and going for it now.

My AF has now become persistant, and i agree with everything on Dr Sanjay Guptas video,i can live with this, id rather not but it is what it is and i do live my life and enjoy it.Admit it is a slowed down life and adjusted to take account of my AF. Jane

I was on it. Cardiologist prescribed it. Saw EP a few months later. After seeing that I had 15 episodes and they were increasing in frequency, he asked “How’s that working for you?” And a month later I had an ablation and have been episode free for six months and counting.

So did it help? Hard to say for me. Maybe it would have been worse. Maybe not. I’d follow your EPs advice.

I’m on dronedarone, been on it for 2 months. It has worked as well as Flecainide did for me. Occasional ectopic beat, and one 2 min episode of Afib.

Not what you're looking for?
