Dopamine

There was a talk about dopamine levels and tolerance. How to avoid this by intermittent dosing. How the brain responds more strongly to surprise levels of dopamine. I've been trying this by dividing the dose of 3 madopar every 4 hours into 2s and 1s.

And other neurotransmitters and hormones are affected besides Norepinephrine, Dopamine, and Serotonin. The solution is to "detox" and decrease your levels gradually and get off the meds. And let your brain try to readjust to managing your endocrine system on it's own.

If it weren’t for sites like this and the Hopkins’ and Mayo Clinic’s websites, I would be at the mercy of doctors who don’t seem to know that first-line Tx is no longer dopamine agonists. I don’t know how to replace the three meds with only Pregabalin or gabapentin.

GP has suggested dopamine medication - what should I try and what are the downsides? Thank you.

I went off pramipexole months ago and am reluctant to take another dopamine agonist. Thanks!

Admittedly I have not seen a doctor but when looking on the NHS website about causes being linked to low dopamine levels, I immediately began taking THC at night. First I was smoking which I really didnt want to do (going back to my youth tasted nasty!)

can someone open my skull and dump a few loads of dopamine and iron in my head please ? Maybe it would help lol Just looking for anyones thoughts where stony opioids didn’t do much thanks 😊

Now at home I am restless so I started taking college classes to help with the lack of dopamine. However I'm not sure what to study. I notice a lot of nurses have ADHD, which I'mnot sure how they remember all the terminology.

My neurologist is concerned by my symptoms as they have been getting worse, so in 2 weeks time I have a DAT scan as he thinks there is a problem in my brain to do with dopamine and has told me my symptoms are what you may expect in parkinsons. But now I understand neuro issues are part of P.A .

Dopamine agonist meds do not like my body. Ice gel rubbed on legs and soles of feet helps. Another doctor is being consulted to find a non-dopamine agonist treatment once I am off Pramipexole and a social worker has been assigned. I really appreciate all of your answers and information.

To anyone being prescribed a dopamine agonist, RUN DO NOT WALK. There are other options.

On my search for the link between PD and N, the interaction between the B vitamins and the formation of dopamine came to light, especially the significance of B6 as so clearly described by member Jesus Marquez Rivera in his "Parkinsons Here and Now".

should PD patients be supplementing other chemicals, neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine (NE) as well as dopamine? How would one supplement NE?

I randomly stumbled across an article about how the body craves sugar in order to compensate for the lack of dopamine in the brain. I dove right in! Read articles about how many adult women go their whole lives not knowing they have ADHD. And all the symptoms sounded like me. I was baffled!

SSRIs like Sertraline are not good for ADHD anyway as I found through research, they are helpful for those that need a balanced amount of serotonin but again my research suggested that they are more damaging to those misdiagnosed with depression who actually have ADHD and need dopamine more than serotonin
