Anyone on peritoneal dialysis?
The doctors want to start the process for home peritoneal
dialysis
overnight. We are feeling quite anxious as a family and I would appreciate your support. Can anyone offer their experiences on starting PD, physically and mentally how they feel on
dialysis
?

The Queen is here!
I am still not on
dialysis
and I've had my fistula for several months now. It's become so thick and strong. I think it's doing well. I've tried not to worry every day about having to do
dialysis
when the time comes, but I can't help it. I go to the doctor in a few weeks to see where I stand.

High BP during dialysis
Her mom has been on
dialysis
for about 3 months and is having a rough go of it. During treatment her mom’s pressure shoots up dangerously high, to the point where an ambulance is being called to take her to the ER from
dialysis
at least once a week.

Allergic to dialysis tape?
Is anyone else here allergic to, or irritated by, the paper tape that the
dialysis
lab technicians place on your arm during treatment? I get terrible red, itchy, painful, crusty rashes on the part of my arm where the tape adheres to.

17 months and counting...
All my labs are were they should be and I have
dialysis
at home. The routine gets a bit monotonous, but that's life.

Dialysis or Transplant?
I have had 19 blood readings of 20 or less (to 11) since May 2021. Currently 14. Exhausted. Fatigued is not the word! There has been no talk of transplant at all. Only Haemodialysis, as I am on my own with no support it would be in hospital. Also it would be in a satellite premises a 1.5 hours

How much salt is good for an elderly CKD patient?
I wonder if it is good advice for an elderly patient according to a study reported in the periodical Nephrology
Dialysis
Transplantation titled "Predictive effect of salt intake on patient and kidney survival in non-
dialysis
CKD: competing risk analysis in older versusyounger patients under nephrology

Yes, definitely
Btw, most people with ckd die from a heart condition before reaching
dialysis
necessity (90%). Healthy diet and exercise greatly reduces cardiovascular risks for 98% of people.

I need some help with this
iPTH has come way down since I started
dialysis
. most all numbers are stable or better. Except for phosphorus, which got to 7.2. But I have been on a binder for a while now and should be better. I still pee and a lot. Clearance is fabulous. I do not take off any fluid during
dialysis

Is this related to the
dialysis
, or is something else going on? Juvenile diabetic, CHF, hypertension. Kidney function been decreasing last 5 years. I've been on transplant list (kidney/pancreas) for one year, was hoping to skip
dialysis
altogether. But here we go.

My mil is a 65-year-old woman who has been on
dialysis
for over a year. She has had CKD for 20+ years, along with diabetes, HTN, and arthritis. I was looking for community online support because sometimes we feel information overloaded.

Insurance and transplant woes
It's not the
dialysis
that wears on me it's setting up and going to doctors appts. At least MY nephrologist shows up at the
dialysis
center once a month and I don't have to go to him. Oh, Sat I used my graft for the first time. Put on the numbing cream and it didn't hurt at all.
