DBS. Did it improve your life as much as you hoped?
Can anyone reading this who has had the surgery give me their honest thoughts as to whether the
DBS
surgery has improved them and If so how? Cheers

Wait listed for
DBS
, appointment is months away Exercise 90 minutes per day with walking and stretches. Strict plant based oil free diet. 90 minutes of prayer each day So anyway I’m not one to give up . I’m looking for healthy ways to safely and naturally increase dopamine .

I’m scheduled to have DBS surgery February 29 - if you have had DBS, is there anything you wish you‘d known beforehand?
I want to prepare mentally (and physically) for the surgery, and would appreciate any input from members of this community who have had the experience of
DBS
surgery. Thank you in advance. Wayne

DBS: Medtronic question re. voice
Things went ok until about February this year: I felt that my off times were too marked in comparison to what
DBS
declared it would achieve and so a week ago, had another appointment with my ‘team’.

Any info or experience with light headedness and circulation issues with PD?
My husband has PD, 9 years in, He had
DBS
surgery a year ago and that has been a miraculous positive change, however he has this symptom of getting really lightheaded when going from sitting to standing or any quick movements, ( he passed out a while ago and hit his head) or happens like playing pickleball

DBS awake or under general anesthesia
I've been told that for my
DBS
operation I will be under general anesthesia. I'm just wondering what others have experienced.

Does deep brain stimulation help with cognitive problems in Parkinson's disease? Theta frequency STN-DBS boosts working memory
Theta frequency STN-

boosts working memory, a key cognitive process often impaired in PD. https://academic.oup.com/brain/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/brain/awad433/7513222?login=false

Collagen powder and increased stiffness?
We couldn't figure out why this was happening because we haven't changed anything with medication or setting on his
DBS
device. We called his neurologist and she recommended adding Azilect.

The problematic 2nd dose of the day
The second thought is really bad: after my first dose I go badly off (it’s been getting worse as the life of the
DBS
goes on, but this is only 5 months old. Surely I should still be in the honeymoon period now?!) and take 350 mg. But it’s always a challenge to know if it’s going to work or not.

Treatment for severe OCD
I don't exactly know what it is said about
DBS
in FDA's guidelines, but they consider this surgery as an exception if no other method helps.

i know this is going to sound weird but…….
Ever since I had the
DBS
I’ve had rhinitis, itchy eyes, itchy skin. I assumed that I needed to hoover up etc, get my dogs bedding changed etc. I’ve done all of these but I’m still symptomatic. I thought to myself the other day: this started pretty soon after the
DBS
.

DBS update
For those in the U.K. considering FUS v
DBS
: FUS sounds good but costs £25000 for each side if I understand that correctly.
DBS
, available on the NHS. What’s not to like?
