Cyproheptadine

The down fall is the lost of appetite when on it, causing us to use cyproheptadine which doesn’t seem to help, does anybody know of a medication, stimulates or non-stimulants where the side effects aren’t lose of appetite? Any suggestions would be appreciated…anybody using Kapvay?

I haven't told my boss about my migraines, because they are PMS-related, and my medication (cyproheptadine) gets rid of the others 98% of the time, so I only get one or two a month (they last from 1-3 days).

We do see an endocrinologist that has him on cyproheptadine to supposedly help with sleep and help increase appetite. We do have a follow up appointment with his Endo and pediatrician in about 2 weeks but I would like hear some ideas.

cyproheptadine in the treatment of multiple malignancies, such as myeloma, leukemia and hepatocellular carcinoma, to some extent suggest the effect of cyproheptadine in combating cancers.

Cyproheptadine can also be used as an appetite stimulant in cancer patients in order to improve their appetite and may be helpful in patients with cancer anorexia/cachexia.

Hi Everyone, My nearly 6 year old has been stable on a combination of Concerta 27mg (ADHD), Celexa 20mg (anxiety), Cyproheptadine 4mg (appetite) and Clonidine .1mg (sleep) for 6 months now. Lately, we've noticed an uptick in hyperactivity and a slight decline in appetite.

Cyproheptadine can help improve appetite, sensory issues and even sleep.

We just started giving our 5 year old son cyproheptadine (Periactin) for appetite stimulation to counter the effects of stimulants. It's only been a few days, but we are seeing some positive results. Is anyone else using this medication? Have you found it helpful?

Besides his regular meds (Generic concerta), I gave him his appetite stimulant (Cyproheptadine 4mg) this afternoon. (I don't give it to him every day). He had a similar tantrum a few days ago, and I seem to remember I gave it to him that day as well.

He has now perscribed cyproheptadine to try and crack the insomnia - in the belief that I will never feel well or be able to loose weight unless I sleep !! I agree but doesn't explain the declining results on higher meds ?

The Cyproheptadine does not work anymore. How can I get my kid to eat anything besides chicken nuggets and cookies?

So I'm on 2 oral diabetes meds, insulin, cholesterol medicine, Urso. and I have cyproheptadine and Xanax for when the itching gets really bad! (Like today. 😩
