We just started giving our 5 year old son cyproheptadine (Periactin) for appetite stimulation to counter the effects of stimulants. It's only been a few days, but we are seeing some positive results.
Is anyone else using this medication? Have you found it helpful? What dose do you use, and how old is your child?
I'd love to hear from others if it has worked for them.

What stimulant are you on? We were on adderall for a month and he still ate but not as much as before. Now we are in concerta and he eats pretty much like before. Even his lunch box is empty after school
My son became sad on adderall. Now he is on concerta 17 mg I believe. I just wonder why such a big dose for 5 years old. My son is 7. I was afraid of 17 mg after 10 mg adderall. But looks like he is happier.
An update if anyone happens to search for this in the future: we've been using cyproheptadine (Periactin) for appetite stimulation for two months now, and my son is up 5 lbs. It's just what we've prayed for. His chubby cheeks are back and he's now able to eat lunch. We're hoping for 4 more lbs to get him to the 50% for his age.
Hi is your child still on periactin ? Curious to know as my son has great effect w Vyvanse for adhd symptoms but we are having VERY tough time w appetite
