Hi - 53 years old with recent diagnosis above (5 weeks ago). Have just started Crizotinoib single cell treatment (started 3 days ago). Anyone had experience of this treatment? Have not wanted to know any timeframes as want to enjoy time with my young family and not sure I want a figure as yet.....

Crizotinib as a first line treatment for ALK+ patients
Crizotinib
is now available as a first line treatment for those who are ALK+. ALK is a protein which encourages cancer cells to grow, divide and spread. It is found in approximately 3- 5% of those with non-small cell lung cancer.

Tooth extraction and antibiotics whilst taking crizotinib
My husband is taking oral
crizotinib
and is shortly going to have a tooth extracted. He will probably need antibiotics afterwards but we are worried about which one he will be able to have whilst taking
crizotinib
as we understand that a lot of antibiotics interact with this drug.

Crizotinib update
Thought It was time for an update on how my husband Steve is doing on
crizotinib
. He started it last September and is still taking it. His original side effects have virtually disappeared and it really has given us our life back. He's just had a stable scan which is great.

ALK positive
I have had specific chemotherapy permatrexate n cisplatin, then maintenance chemotherapy of permatrexate and am now on
Crizotinib
, which I have been on approx 14 months. What treatment are you getting? I am glad of any response. Even if you have had the same treatment as me.

Lorlatinib for ALK rearrangement
My husband has been on
crizotinib
, Ap26113, chemo and finally Opdivo which left him deathly sick, Even though his genes were just sequenced at Mass General in Boston and told he needs Lorlatinib, the trials are closed until the fall and he can apply for compassionate care slots at that time.

Adenocarcinoma with brain mets
He has tested positive to ALK markers, so
Crizotinib
may be used at some point his oncologist said ( He is being treated at Northampton General). All his tumours are inoperable (head and lungs). I am struggling to deal with it emotionally, he has been brilliant!

Mixed results from first scan after 5 weeks on crizotinib
It's possible that these could have appeared during the 3 weeks from baseline scan to starting
crizotinib
or the scan was performed too soon after starting it. Bloods were ok so we can carry on for now with
crizotinib
and the team will meet to review the scan and discuss the next step.

Husband about to start crizotinib.Worried about side effects, infections etc
My husband is just about to start oral
crizotinib
(just found out he's ALK positive). We are wondering how manageable it will be long term (we know everyone reacts differently) - for example, what side effects have any of you had and how have you coped with them?

Cancer drugs in Wales or not?
He has had 6 treatments of carboplatin and pemetrexet chemo. and has been told that because it is alk positive he needs
crizotinib
drugs. These are available on nhs Scotland and on English cancer drug fund list, but not in Wales.
