Lung carcinoid. After a C.T guided biopsy, I was diagnosed with lung carcinoid, surgery was recommended, but will deplete my breathing?
as it is in the centre of my lung. My Surgeon has decided to wait a few months to see if carcinoid get larger. then it will be surgery. These few months will hopefully give me time to sort out my life for a future!! without half a lung and C.O.P.D I would be glad to hear of any similar experiences.

I pinched this article off Facebook. As a treatment for Emphysema, I think it has a place amongst the others. I wonder if it has relevance for those with Collateral Ventilation, where other treatments are not a good option because of air leakage between the lobes in the lung through damaged tissue.

Group for those on Iressa
Has anyone out there, diagnosed at stage 4 EGFR positive treated with Iressa been given surgery, not in a curative way but as a possible way to extend the effectiveness of the drug? The theory being that if you debulk the tumour there is a possibility that Iressa may be more effective for longer. I know

Weight Loss and Prednisolone (steroids)
Iv'e always put my weight gain down to the steroids I'm taking, (20mg) daily for two years now. It seems as though I was wrong about this. Stupid as it may seem I was simply eating too much. After a lung transplant consultant told me to lose 1 and a half stone so I would have a better chance of surviving

Iressa and continuity in the NHS.
NHS doctors generally do not appear to understand the importance of continuity of contact in treating long term patients. In the first 8 months of my treatment for lung cancer I saw 6 different doctors. After 2 months I was placed on Iressa. At the time this was a fairly new and infrequent (still

Advice about lung cancer
Hi, my dad has terminal lung cancer. He has had chemo and radiotherapy which finished in Dec 2012.He was taken into hospital last week with a chest infection which was treated with antibiotics through a drip. He was sent home with some antibiotic tablets (which he has now finished.) He seems to get short

Lung cancer
I was diagnosed with aggressive lung cancer today and I am devastated. I know that I need to be strong but all I can think of is dying. I lost both my parents to lung cancer but I never thought it would happen to me, everyone probably thinks that. Any help to get through this would be greatly appreciated

Step 1 passed, Now its on to step (STILL KEEPING CALM)
First I would like to thank everyone for thier very kind words, thoughts and prayers before my lung transplant assessment (step 1) on Tuesday. It make's such a difference to know there are others out there who care and are thinking of you. After a x-ray, spirometry, bloods, and a record breaking 6 minute

Contact group for Iressa patients
As a stage 4 lung cancer patient being treated with the drug Iressa I'm feeling rather isolated because there are so few of us and we live so far apart. I was diagnosed in November 2010 and have been on Iressa since January the following year. The changes this drug has made to my ability to enjoy

Tomorrow is not just another day!! (Keep Calm)
Tomorrow is lung transplant assessment day and I can honestly say the pressure is building! Its a 40 mile trip with an 8.30 appointment time so thats gonna mean quite an early start but I can't see me oversleeping somehow. In fact any sleep at all may be difficult tonight as there is so much at stake

Would you like to help the Roy Castle Information Team by reviewing our "Lung Cancer - A practical guide to breathlessness" booklet?
Our booklet “Lung Cancer – A practical guide to breathlessness” is being reviewed and updated. As part of this review, we want to ensure that our information meets the needs of people affected by lung cancer. We recently held a focus group made up of both people affected by lung cancer and health
