Hi, I was referred in July 2011 by the consultant and went for the tests at Wythenshawe hospital the following February after a few hold ups due to nodules on my lungs I went on the waiting list In August2012 although one of my colleagues who was in withme in February actually had her transplant in October. Unfortunately I am still waiting but optimistic. Susie Q

Hi Seyre, thats a year to get on to the list, I dont think I'll last that long! But thats with the nodule problem. Your colleage , 8 months from referral to transplant, thats pretty good.

Can you tell me what tests you had at Wythenshawe, I've have the ct, heart, bone , lung function, blood tests etc.

Waiting is frustrating but you are optimistic which is important, never give up. Phil

Hi caroll, you have to have severe copd for the chance of going on the transplant list but there are lots of help/medication available before it gets too bad. I ha ve been lucky with my consultant who I orignally saw privately and the he agreed to take me on as a NHS patient but I have to say the nurses at BLF have been extremely helpful with advice and I would certainly recommend giving them a call. Good luck Susie xx

Hi Phil, the tests are all what you have mentioned plus urine input/output. Once I had passed all those although they put me on medication for cholestorol and bone density then I went on the list. I think I am bad but there always seems to be others worse on here who haven't had the opportunity of going on the transplant list but they are making the most of what they have got. While on the list you still have to make the most of doing what you can and keep building up your strength in readiness. Optimism is a must along with patience. Good luck Phil I hope you get on the list soon. Susie xx
