Are statins essential if you are suffering from AF and/or past strokes? And how much is 'good'?
Just seeking some views on what constitutes the 'correct' level of statins to take in various situations. I have been taking 10 mg of simvastatine for six months and found this is no problem for me and it has marginally reduced what was a very low LDL cholesterol level in the first place. But my doctor

The 2023 PSP & CBD Ice Cream Challenge
May is PSP awareness month and the annual ice cream challenge to raise awareness of PSP-CBD. The challenge is simple... post a picture of yourself, loved one, family members, friends, neighbours and even, co-workers enjoying an ice cream or your favourite frozen dessert to the FB The PSP & CBD Ice Cream

Looking for info for my mum about what happens at the first appointment?
Mum has had
ckd
for a while which has become stage 4 in recent months, not sure what her bloods are at the moment. The gp mentioned that sometimes Erythropoetin can be given and I wondered if so does it happen at the first appointment? Is it an infusion and how long does it take?

Kardia Accuracy
Hi Have been in persistent AF before cardioversion in August22 and enjoyed a lovely 9mths of NSR till it kicked in again (back on the waiting list..) In checking my heart rate regularly using a Kardia Mobile I became suspicious of the 'calculated' BPM declared on the app and started manually checking

CBD oil has helped my Tinnitus
I have waited a while to post this, I certainly don’t want to tempt providence. One of my daughters bought me a bottle of CBD oil hoping it might help my Tinnitus (I have had Tinnitus and Hyperacusis since 2019) I gave it a try, about 5 drops under my tongue three times a day, my initial reaction was

A daughter seeking knowledge on CBD and being proactive.
Hi there, my mum was diagnosed in 2020 with CBD. She is the third generation in my family to be diagnosed with a neurological degenerative disease. She is very unsteady on her feet, her speech is slurred, her sentence structure isn’t good and she has lost use of her right arm/hand. If I was to say I

AV - Ablation and Tachycardia-Bradycardia
I have been diagnosed with Tachycardia-Bradycardia, a condition I have l had for many years. I must admit I did not have many physical or annoying symptoms, but had had periodic high blood pressure readings even while taking 50mg of Metoprolol daily. I also had occasional pulse readings ranging from

How do we define a successful Ablation
Hi all My question, how do we define whether an ablation has been a success. Briefly my back story: I'm a 51 years male, in New Zealand. Relatively fit farmer, 69kg. First diagnosed 2020, with AF occurring every 2-3 weeks, reverting to NSR after about 4 hours. Prescribed daily120 Diltiazem, and
