Amiodarone
Good news, they said--no need for a
cardioversion
now. Trouble is ,I don't want to take the drug as side effects can be horrendous , or so I'm told. Big problem for me so far has been Insomnia, but apart from that I'm scared of taking it for long. Any advice would be most welcome.

I have an appointment with cardio in March
and believe he may suggest an ablation as it was mentioned at my last appointment before my
cardioversion
. Just wondered if any of you have had an ablation done at Harefield Hospital and if so who did it and did it go well.

New Dilemma
I found myself back in hospital on Friday with more chest pains and lethargy, but since my
cardioversion
just over a week ago, despite too many Ectopics and a few runs of double beats too, I've remained in NSR.

Oops
I really hoped the Electric
Cardioversion
would have lasted longer. Next job - hospital. Will update you when I get back. I guess this thing isn't going away :-(

Amiodarone side effects.
I have to take it for 6 weeks at least before a
Cardioversion
but my nights are horrendous!! My EP said to keep taking the Bisoprolol as well--only 1.25 but to stop it if my heart slowed down too much. What is too much ?? Could the 2 druga together be keeping me awake all night I wonder.

Amiodorone has worked, what happens next?
The Cardiologist put my husband on Amiodorone when the
Cardioversion
failed after 12 days. On day six of Amiodorone he went back into sinus rhythm and has stayed there now for a week, apart from a couple of hours when he got a bit constipated and strained a bit too much.

Stress, AF, & keeping a boss happy
Sadly, I had to take some time off in December with this lousy virus that's been going round, and of course I was off for a few days after my first DC
Cardioversion
in November, last year.

Ablation or Medication?
One
cardioversion
in September which lasted one week. I'm on amiodarone 200mg and bisoporol 10mg, warfarin and a diuretic. left atrium measures 5.3. heart rate around 125. Amiodarone worked for six weeks and then I reverted back last week just before seeing EP.

Emergency appointment with Cardiologist
My husband had a
Cardioversion
on 28h November which brought him back into sinus rhythm. It lasted all of 12 days. After that he was back to a heart rate of 130. So, basically he's been in AF since October with a break of less than a fortnight, with a heart rate of 130/140.

Persistent AF following 2 x Cardioversions = Hybrid Ablation, stage 1.
I have had 2 Cardioversions which each lasted approx 12 months but then went into persistent AF in March 2014. As my ability to carry on with my sporting lifestyle (I'm now 66 ) worsened I asked to be referred to my Consultant with a view to the new Hybrid Ablation procedure. I didn't meet the criteria

After the cardioversion
After his successful
Cardioversion
we both wanted to be aware if he went into AF again. He is anxious to get back to work as a driving instructor, nowhere near retirement unfortunately.

Been away for a bit
The future I don’t know as I have heard nothing from the cardiologist since the failure of my second
cardioversion
. I still have no endurance when doing anything and a very erratic pulse rate, but the alternatives are rubbish. I shall just take every day as it comes and get on with it.

Husband's Cardioversion worked
So, the
Cardioversion
worked. They shocked him twice and it worked on the second one, so he's back to normal. He fainted afterwards, but that may have been from lack of food, and he faints easily just thinking about anything medical let alone having anything done.

Episode 5
Following the
cardioversion
I was bradycardic for several hours, I guess as a result of the chemical
cardioversion
attempt, and then things settled down. 2 days later my resting HR is between 55 & 60. So far so good.

Cardioversion on Friday
Husband is due for a cardio version on Friday. Is there anything we should be aware of? As he's been in Afib for at least six weeks that we know of, probably a lot longer, how likely is it to work? His heart rate was 130 when they tested it on Friday, his oxygen level was 95% and his blood pressure
